DDR X3 VS 2ndMIX (AC) (Japan)

The LINK VERSION songs I understand, they were released late with the IIDX CLUB VERSiON support and actually appeared on the 3rdMIX soundtrack. However I have to argue that the absence of STRICTLY BUSINESS in that license list is mistake on the blog's part. Seeing as the song is still featured on the re-release soundtrack album.

They said on the blog that they wanted to include every license but due to "various circumstances" they were not able to.

I'd like to think that refers to LINK VERSION and such. If the song is on the soundtrack there's no licensing issue in play, the whole scuffle with Matronik was with Toshiba, not Konami. What other reason would they have for removing that song?

I love how Konami frequently comes so close to doing things 100% right then arbitrarily backs away.

We really don't know that licensing a song for a soundtrack=licensing a track for a game or vice versa.

Nope, but I don't think anyone should have expected LOVE; it was on the LINK VERSION and part of the 3rdMIX soundtrack, and this is being released alongside only the 2ndMIX soundtrack which doesn't include those songs.

Licensing a song for a soundtrack is not equivalent to licensing it for the game. EMI's licensing of it for the 2ndMIX OST re-release is in no way a comment on KONAMI's ability to do so.

I'm a little hesitant over the great exposure of DDR II here. Don't get me wrong, DDR II was amazing, but the X2 AC step team is still superior. It'd be nice if the X2 team just took over all stepping of CS songs as well, if they're going to feature so heavily on AC from now on.

I'm sure Toshiba or whoever owns Dancemania still didn't have a hard time re licensing under the Dancemania name. Konami, on the other hand would most likely handle licensing between both Toshiba or whoever owns the distribution rights in Japan in addition to licensing the song in general. I'm sure its more of a mess than you'd think.

I'm actually more interested in seeing/hearing about new license in this game than the Dancemania repeats.

Agreed. Dancemania revivals are cool, but we know almost nothing about new licenses aside from Heavy Rotation and a strong hint at Connect.

I'm hoping we see something from Dancemania Sparkle, like Barbie Girl or Fire. First Dancemania album in a long time to promote a DDR game, and I doubt any of those 90s licenses are too expensive.

If Konami can bring back butterfly and reconstitute SMiLE.dk as a group just to have Naoki collaborate with them on one song... They have the know how and the money to bring back a single Dancemania song.

I am sooo wanting Barbie Girl...i know i will soung like a total homo, but it ws the first CD i ever bought when i was 11....

But i doubt that many US male players would select that song...unless it has killer steps

Doubtable. Konami may have the money and power to get the 2ndMiX songs back, but it'll be a cold day in hell before they gain the ability to get entirely new songs from old Dancemania releases.

Plus, if it were in the game, you'd be surprised at how much people would play it. They (the players) love those quirky-type songs. In my opinion, at least.

I too love all those quirky songs the only reason i have a DDR machine at home with 4thMIX Plus installed, and the reason why i have a ITG2 Hacked PCB currently clearing customs!!

I still think Konami can get the rights to songs that may have been on Toshiba EMi license in the past. Untilamtely they dont have to use Toshiba EMI, i think they can still source songs from other music lables, for example they had tracks from Axex in X2
