"On ZiV I'm like Princess Diana"
I can imagine Mei being the "non-boss song" boss song. That is, a song that is as hard as a boss song but not actually one. SN1 had Xepher, SN2 had Trim, X had Super Samurai etc.

Then again, the ratings are pretty high on X2 now. Of the ~25 songs that are on the AOU show, only 5 of them have a max difficulty below 11, so I suppose they could make it way stupid hard.

I doubt it; it was confirmed on location test and there's no reason to remove it... BEMANIwiki still says it's in.

The only problem with this is that Xepher and Trim were unlocked. I always called them the unlocked boss songs, of which X really didnt have. Was Saber Wing pushed to a unlocked status for the final release?

Xepher and Trim are both default songs on their respective mixes actually.

"Sarah/Autumn"
By "unlocked", I think he means they weren't locked.
Also don't forget Arrabbiata.
Play my game Arcana Seal of Rimsala (SNES)!

SABER WING was EXTRA STAGE from the start. DDR X had no initial boss songs that were fully unlocked.

"Give me a steady beat."
I believe he means a boss-like song that's part of the default track list.

Yeah sorry that could be confusing. I mean they are on the default songlist, you dont have to do anything special to play them.
Saber Wing is confusing because on X CS US it was unlocked from the start.

I hope Konami put more GF&DM, Jubeat and Pop'n'Music crossovers, we have enough IIDX already.

I second this. It's like Konami is putting the other BEMANI games on the back burner while they put IIDX on the forefront, sometimes ahead of DDR.

To be quite honest, I don't see why DDR needs to rely heavily on songs from other BEMANI games. DDR should go back to it's old roots when it relied on it's unique original songs and licenses.

I completly agree with you. They could make a whole mix with just remixes of there old stuff or old crossovers. Ya its nice to see some of the stuff from IIDX coming over....

Unfortunately, DDR Extreme gets so much praise, yet the songlist relies almost entirely on BEMANI crossovers. I'm glad X2 not only has a helping of BEMANI crossovers, but also seems to be doing well on its own songs as well.

You say that as if it's a good thing. Replace those crossovers but have the same artists compose songs for DDR, that'd up the uniqueness of the mix and less song "recycling".

Well, almost all of them ARE making original songs. kors k, dj TAKA, Ryu*, and TAG are all making original songs for the game. Of the crossover artists, only YOSHITAKA and Tatsh are not confirmed to have new original songs.

We'll see. We already know about 8 crossovers on the machine, and another 2 announced by dj TAKA, which makes 10.

That's already 14% of the game's 70+ new songs that's from BEMANI crossovers. I really don't want to see that percentage going over 20.

To me, a good song is a good song regardless of where it originates. I think several of the crossovers will fit beautifully in DDR. A large part of the non-Japanese DDR base doesn't play IIDX so these crossovers are brand new to us.

I suppose, but it shouldn't be an excuse to treat DDR lazily.

I always feel crossovers should make up a minority of a song list, and while we do have a large number of crossovers, they also seem to be sitting on a lot of original content as well. Those probable original songs from the US CS Master List haven't been used, there's still some MUSIC FIT stuff left, and theoretically more above and beyond that, not counting UNIVERSE and Wii DDR transplants.

SuperNOVA2 had just about the perfect crossover distribution, given its original to crossover ratio; while that was only 10 crossovers and we are already at 10, I also expect there to be more originals in X2 than SuperNOVA2.
