I wish there was a SN2 dedicab in Ottawa. All we have are crappy SN machines and even crappier Extreme cabs.

I really do not get their foot ratings. If you look at the 7 footers (Freeway Shuffle, Electrified, Vem brincar), they actually try to make them well-rounded charts. Yet with the 8's and 9's, a lot of it is easy for the foot rating, with maybe one hard part, which is apparently enough to warrant the rating. Then, there are the exceptions to the rule (SUNKiSS Drop, CaptivAte ~CHIKAI~, Arrabbiata, etc.) Gosh, Konami, be consistent.
Damn, you're lucky to be living in New York.

Be lucky that you aren't living in Philadelphia.
The last arcade here closed down in 2004 and the 2 D&B's here only have PIU machines.
I have NO idea why arcade managers find PIU to attract more money than DDR. NONE whatsoever.
As far as I know there is only TWO machines at a mall that's pretty damn far away. An ITG2 machine and a "red DDR machine" that my friend described.

Chris at Mars2112 said they're probably going to upgrade their SN1 to SN2.
Of course with them being really tight-assed on security nowadays you might actually have to PAY to get it ~_~

Actually after a call to Gameworks they told me they have no desire to upgrade the machine as it makes enough money just being SuperNOVA... WTF? |
....that's some BS, even though SN2 comes out with a few more songs, sooner or later there will be MORE as time passes, e-amuse or not. Idk, but just hope that they can rethink that strategy and upgrade their machine...

They WOULD technically lose money if they were deciding to get the next DDR AC unit (which would probably run on different hardware), if they couldn't upgrade SN2 to the next game.
And if they got SN2, I would suppose that regulars there would play there only a little more often for a limited period, and maybe they'd rake in a couple hundred extra dollars; but if the SN1 machine is already successful and it's getting some 30-40 credits per day, I can't imagine there's much room for improvement on income. People don't just play more if there's a newer mix available; they have schedules to keep, and they play DDR on their own time. They will look for DDR time to fit into their schedule, then make do with whatever machines are available.
And there are issues like losing the highscores, that might drive away a few regulars. When our SN1 was finally synced, the previous biggest regular stopped coming as often, because all his scores were gone, and he didn't want to fight the competition for more scores. I, on the other hand, had fewer scores and was excited at the prospect of a machine ripe for grabbing highscores. I didn't neccissarily play more, though.
So yeah, just throwing out ideas of where the arcade's probably coming from with their argument. I'm all for upgrading as many SN1's to SN2's as possible, but it's not always cost-effective and they aren't exactly stupid for wanting to save money.

Its because PIU is cheaper, its that simple. In fact you can get the nicest cab for about $2000 less then a DDR machine with the latest game running on it.

First time I played a PIU machine, I was pissed and confused at the same time.
And DDR will make much more money than PIU in the long run if you get an SN1 machine or even an EXTREME machine.
I just want some DDR arcade action is all.

The d&b times square pads aren't so good (2P up and 1P left are horrible, and 2P down is starting to deteriorate as well...which sucks because I play on 2P side), but it's the only SN2 in town so I go there anyway. I used to make the trek down to Chinatown Fair to play ITG2 on the dedicab, but it's a little far to make a regular trip down there (I live near Columbia) and I'm working full time this summer anyway...maybe during the school year I'll find some time to brush up on my ITG skills
What is this Mars2112 place?

Mars2112 is a restaurant similar to D&B except Mars-themed, hence the name.
Chinatown Fair's EXTREME's pads are strangely better than D&B's SN2...and, unless that machine was replaced, it's at least 7 years old (I remember it being a 5th mix).

You can't get songs from SN1 to SN2. You can get you're edit steps from SN1 to SN2, as long as it's the same song.

Are you saying you want to hack a game to include new songs? If you are, good luck with that.

get out of here, you are posting in the wrong forum, let alone your not going to get answer because no one cares about doing that.
