Next week is the last week of Summer Contest.
I think everyone is already spent and would like to do other things by now, even though it's optional to do a simfile in the first place.

So does my song qualify for this round or it doesn't? I have gotten five different answers and each is telling something different.

Yes it qualifies as a keychange since it goes higher around the end of the song.

That's not really a keychange, but I honestly don't even care any more. Just give it the thumbs up so we can stop wasting our goddamn time.

I'm gonna be honest with you guys: I'm not a big fan of laterals. As an ITG player, I used to hate crossovers but I'm okay with them now, but laterals are a thing that I still can't get over. Why I bring this up? Because in so many charts in this contest but especially this week, I've noticed that laterals and crossovers are used, in my opinion, consistently to the point of excessive. It's a stylistic choice, I understand. But it's starting to get on my nerves when I have to sightread a chart that doesn't seem to be the kind to have a bunch of laterals and BOOM, LATERALS EVERYWHERE.

Just thought I'd share my thoughts, hopefully the people of the Internet here in the ZIv community don't get as butthurt as it does in other communities.

"A lateral is an L-like consonant, in which the airstream proceeds along the sides of the tongue, but is blocked by the tongue from going through the middle of the mouth."

... Yeah, I don't think "lateral" is a term in DDR...

A lateral is a pattern that is recognized to follow this pattern and the alike:
RULRDL or RDLRUL and LURLDR or LDRLUR

Basically, it's a crossover (RDL) which then after, if you follow the consistent right-left leg movement, you make a lateral with your left foot and complete one more crossover (RUL, which is the uncrossing of the crossover).

Well, to that, I say "too bad" because a walking cross is just a thing in DDR and ITG and you'll have to deal with it.

Oh. I know of those as Afronova Walks (AFRONOVA from 3rdMIX is the first known use of them).

I like using them, but sometimes I do think I go a bit overboard.

I sometimes use them as well in my charts, maybe once or twice. And since it is just a thing that you will see in DDR and ITG, I accept them. But when the whole chart is filled with laterals/walking crosses/Afronova Walks, one after the other, it becomes distasteful and just plain repetitive and slightly harder to read imo.

I came out to have a good time and I'm honestly feeling so attacked right now.

But yeah in hindsight it was kind of lazy to use all of those afronova walks at the end of Savage Youth Theory . Oh well.

Throwing my hand in the ring with this, so if you have a question as to whether or not a song qualifies as a key change, feel free to send it to me as well and I'll tell you. I'm also sure that if the others who have explained key changes through these past pages wouldn't mind pointing them out to you either, especially if you went to them privately.

I just wanna help more people participate if they're willing to.
