There's nothing that's preventing Konami from reviving another batch of old licenses.
Also, I'm more interested in that removal date. It seems like they're clearing the field for a big content update right before the US release.
we didn't get anything from what was removed on July 3rd besides the bemani summer diary in DDR 2014.

Man, I'll miss the removal of If You Were Here; It's honestly my favorite Dancemania song.

"Two milkmen go comedy"
Not only will all the Dancemania licenses be removed, but also licenses such as Mickey Mouse March (Eurobeat Version), Burst the Gravity, and CHOO CHOO TRAIN? Definitely the worst license removal yet, and I hope Konami makes up for it during the US release.

Knowing Konami, probably nothing. None of the aracade versions we got in the US officially never got any exclusive songs.

Seems to me like they're just getting rid of all these old licenses to save money for licensing new stuff that's popular right now.

And by new stuff, I mean Touhou remixes.

"Two milkmen go comedy"
SomethingRandom, that double negative is showing Smile
But on a more serious note, DDR was fairly popular back then, so there was no need for any exclusive songs for the US. (DDR X/X2 also had mainstream songs that were the first to go.) But, if Konami thinks that just a bunch of Touhou/anime remixes will be sufficient for this significant DDR revival... I think it will be proven wrong.

It truly sucks that they are permanently removed, but as long as we have SM I don't think we have anything to worry about.

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but when was the last time we actually got a large content update as far as new songs are concerned? It seems to be a slow process of a few songs at a time, drawn out painfully slowly.

Not that I'm already discouraged TOO badly yet; but then again, I tend to not notice things that are <13 feet in difficulty, which is literally 99% of the licenses, so I wouldn't say I'm a great shot-caller. I'm still looking forward to what KO's and new boss songs are like.

(But then also again, a lot of boss stuff is done on battery life bar, and I can't play with that thing to save my life, so it may all be a bit hypocritical of me).

Well, this is DDR Axe where they slowly axed away older licensed songs, followed by the later ones...

My hope is that they will revive other Dancemania songs from 4th-EX. But Dancemania is pretty much dead and dead for real after X3 was released. (I didn't say 2006 bceause they'd still had those Hime Trance stuff going on which is related to Dancemania)

I honestly don't understand why they don't license more mainstream Japanese songs for DDR. It's worked well for pop'n (to a lesser extent), Gitadora, jubeat, Reflec Beat...what stops them from doing it more for DDR?

.

The last time was 4 months in after 2013's release, which gave us a batch of songs including Mickey Mouse March, Burst the Gravity, etc.

2014 gave us UMU so technically that counts as for the non anime/Touhou license group of that mix.

We have yet to see any J-pop/International licenses for A, and I'm certain we will see some new content drop. There's never been a U.S. arcade DDR release that didn't include western-friendly licensing of some kind.

Really sad to see these songs go, specially for IF YOU WERE HERE (L.E.D.-G STYLE REMIX) and both LOVE & JOY, but well, we need to get rid of it and pray for good future licenses, or good KO.

They probably want DDR to be more like SDVX. SDVX does not have any mainstream jpop as far as I know, but has lot of Touhou and denpa. Which is sad

Yes, and obviously Konami is going to launch a DDR IS DEAD campaign to run until November 21 to commemorate 18 years of DDR before killing it. Expect new 'A' challenge charts, the first official 20-footers, even more song removals, and the gradual end of the flight.
