Sorry, everyone. I never got the chance to post during the school day because our school's Wi-Fi is so unreliable, and I've been busy with cross country practice since the end of the school day.
For this week, I think I'm going with one of Cuzco's suggestions.
The theme this week will be... [Key Change]. As Cuzco briefly but effectively explained, the music cut used must have at least one key change. Nothing too hard, right?
I will say, I was considering a [Long Version] week at the beginning of the contest (I was actually gonna tag it [Over 2:30], but after PM'ing Aegis about the possibility, we figured it might come with a few downsides in terms of judging. Especially now as we reach the point in the year where people are actually busy with school-work and other kinds of work and such, I think it's best to hold off on a theme that might require more time out of the participants.
Again, sorry about the delay.

Personally I was considering Groove Radar based themes, something like [Freeze Week] or [Air Week]. I was considering posting a few articles regarding how the values were calculated and setting a minimum value for that particular aspect I chose (probably 75) that the
/
chart had to reach.
Voltage and Stream seemed a little too easy because so many of you make difficult and chaotic charts to begin with. Freeze Week would've been a breeze for some of you as well. Chaos on the other hand would've been a nightmare to calculate and verify (very lengthy and tedious process).

Oh, thank goodness.
High School Never Ends will be returning. As for Crazy Noisy Bizarre Town... no dice. It's a shame, it could actually do better than 5th!
Maybe a second file for this week? Not sure yet.

I don't understand this theme. Can somebody explain in detail what does "music cut used must have at least one key change"?

Theme week proposal, just to add SOME sort of challenge whatsoever.
Okay, so uh, when I encountered Mid Speed, I began thinking "it's about tempo, but what about pitch?", so my idea is Pitch Change. you must step a song that changes it's key basis at least once. So for instance it could start in C Major but move to D Major halfway in.
Some examples from me are Triops Has Three Eyes (middle section is strange), Rock the Club (F# Minor -> G Minor), Journal of an Unlucky Girl (G Major -> G# Minor).
Probably familiar examples would be Candy Dash (changes from B Minor to A# Minor frequently), Milky Berry Sweet Time (F Major to F# Major), Gourmet Race (Drumstep Remix) (C Minor -> D# Major -> D Minor).
DDR examples would be Max 300 (changes from F# Minor to G Majorish for a few measures), BABY LOVE ME (A Major -> B Major -> A Major), The Reflex (G# Minor -> A Minor -> D Major), and The Least 100 sec (completely sporadic).
Sound good?

I understand the idea, but how would I know when the key changes or in what key is a part of the song? :v It's not like I'm a musician or something... (I think this could apply to more than one person). I don't think a theme should force to have a certain knowledge that has nothing to do with simfiling itself...

It doesn't. I don't understand music-related terms as I never had any music lessons or didn't take interest in making music. This explanation means nothing to me other than "the listed songs have it".It's even worse that I have just three days to test files, make a simfile and publish it as I'm leaving for convention on Thursday night :/

I'm in the same boat at Bruno and Lisek here. There's really no way for me to participate in this theme without blindly picking a song and hoping it counts if I don't know when the key actually changes.

Well, Titanic (ZIv version) yes, this is a bad joke is going down because I don't understand this theme either. Do you want to give us a more comprehensives examples, dear Cuzco?

You'll know when a key change occurs when different notes are used to produce the same tones. You can usually pick it up by ear.Compare and contrast [1:34] with [1:36].
Compare and contrast [1:12] with [1:26].
Hope this helped you a bit. If it didn't, my apologies.

Funny you said that, because My Heart Will Go On actually qualifies. This TVTropes page lists songs with key changes near the end, for dramatic effects. Maybe this could help?

[Reverse Scrabble]: Like last year's [Scrabble] theme, except the title has to score at most 20 points rather than at least 20 points.
Oh man, my file that week would still qualify (minus the Challenge bit). Also, this is a good theme.Post #1253 · Posted at 2016-09-13 03:33:24am 8.7 years ago

I have at least a couple of songs that have a key change in mind: five are original works while at least 4/5 of them are not and/or BMS Remixes.

My first file of the contest, Candy Dash, is also a good example of what would work for this theme if anyone still needs an example

I know NewbStepper answered it, but here's some more examples from my perspective.
Take Plan 8 by Ryu for example. Using the tricoro OST as an example, the minor(ish) key change occurs at 1:12.
The game cut of Hallelujah by Sound Holic has several key changes at 0:58, 1:00, 1:20, 1:26. The OST has (correct me if I am wrong) a few more key changes in comparison to the in-game version.
Even one of my own simfiles, 2 Minutes Fighters by P*Light has a key change in 1:19.
Going back to the simfile theme, as someone who grew up studying music, so much kudos to you
I might be doing two simfiles and hopefully it'll take less time to make.

In case anyone out there is still unsure of what to look for, I guess there are a couple of other hints I can put here. Do you ever listen to songs that take a certain melody and try to intensify a certain "feeling" you get out of it, particularly near the end? This usually occurs with a pitch shift, in which the key is often raised by a semitone or two.
Compare and contrast [1:02] with [1:13]. I'm sure we've all noted that pitch shift at one time or another.
In many cases, there is a hint that a pitch shift is going to happen. It usually occurs 1 measure prior to the main melody played with the new key.
Compare and contrast [0:03] with [1:42]. Take note of the extra measure prior to [1:42].
Compare and contrast [1:24] with [1:40]. Take note of the extra measure prior to [1:40] - this is where you get that "hint".
Compare and contrast [1:16] with [1:27]. Listen to the pauses right before [1:27] - the key gets raised after the second pause.
And I hope we all know this song.
Compare and contrast [2:14] with [3:03]. [3:00] has a very significant transition.
Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to make it clear that there are several examples out there, and that you probably know them.

Saying pitch change is weird, can we just call it key change please. And yes i think Mermaid girl goes from 3 sharps to 5 sharps. I think possession goes from 2 sharps to three, but i haven't recently heard the songs so I have to listen to it. Smoooch -A- goes from C or Eb to G or A. Im doing this from memory, i dont have headphones to listen to the song. XD. I like this theme, because it gives me a chance to step Break Free which goes from 4 flats to Eb beautifuly. XD
