I think is equal to Nephilim Delta in terms of difficulty

I think I like all three of these new charts, 放課後ストライド S-
especially. They all look pretty fun.

The new charts are honestly better than what I expected to see - they look really fun! For some reason, I thought Iro wa Nioeido (the Touhou song) was going to have an
chart harder than a 12 (in my head, I was thinking it would be a 13 or 14), but it is nice and straightforward.

They seem like decent charts, though my question is: How many of these newer songs/licenses are going to make it to the transition overseas when the US gets them? My main debatable thought is what kind of audience will Konami attempt to cater to after the release -- whether it's their core base of fans whom have stuck with the game for many years or attempt to bring in more players, perhaps other gamers/anime fans, or god-forbid the normie crowd who probably have thoughts of, "Why do we have this animu weeb shit on here?"

Yeah, it's definitely on the easier end of the 14 spectrum, but I still think it's worthy of a 14. 黒髪乱れし修羅となりて〜凛 edition〜 from last week got a 14 rating, which I would definitely say was easier than this. 放課後ストライド has less merciful, slightly more complicated streams (with somewhat tiring crossovers added into the mix), and I think that the fact it has 600+ notes alone moves it into the 14 range. I really do like the chart overall, except for that random extra freeze+step at the end. Seems very fun to play and flows very well.
That ending for ハッピーシンセサイザ is...interesting...ending on a freeze turned 180 degrees...

I'm really hoping they can cater to all of these crowds simultaneously. It's been done before in X2 and IMO it had the perfect balance of everything license-wise to date (J-Pop, J-rock, Anime, International hits, alt/indie bands, Dancemania revivals, Cyber Trance & Super Eurobeat).

I would have to think it would have to lean more toward the former, though I'm sure there would probably be some US song licenses by default. Based on putting new songs out one by one, I think Konami would try one or two for the normie crowd after release and see if there was any reaction; how that's determined is anyone's guess. The reaction would probably be better with the core crowd for each new song, and with the amount of anime/Touhou/Hinabitter songs DDR already has, Konami could cater in more songs to the anime fanbase; the songs would have to be easy enough to keep them hooked.Post #1231 · Posted at 2016-04-25 06:25:26pm 9.5 years ago

Very comparable to 5th mix-MAX2.

Agree. It's a straight forward song but it's quite a stamina drainer with no real breaks until the end which is what makes it a 14.

放課後ストライド seemsborderline 13/14, but good gravy I think I'm in love with that stream no matter what the rating.

Call me a normie, but I'm really not a fan of the direction DDR has been going with all the vocaloid, anime, etc. songs. They are just too niche for my taste, and I think they are better off in other BEMANI titles, from which they are usually crossed over anyways. I can more or less tolerate J-Pop, the kinds similar to songs like Follow Tomorrow. Those are fun to listen to and make you want to dance along to them.
I want music that you can actually dance to, and enjoy outside of the game itself. Even if Dance Dance Revolution isn't SUPPOSED to be a real dance simulator, it would still be nice if it stayed true to the premise of dancing. That's why DDR and Dancemania went so well together, like butter and bread. It brought tons of groovy tracks that made you want to move as soon as you heard them. It had tracks I could listen to in, say, the car, and not just tracks I'd only ever play in the game itself.
That doesn't mean they HAVE to be Dancemania tracks. There are many other places to get good danceable music from, and it shows in X2, with songs like TENSHI, Time After Time, ETERNITY, and others. There are also many recent KONAMI Originals that capture that feeling too. With songs like the ones from Hinabitter or Last Note, though, they just seem like songs I'd rather watch and sing along to than dance to.
I just really don't want to end up having to like a song just cause it has an interesting set of patterns to go along with it in the stepcharts, when without them all I'd be doing is singing along while I watch the pretty animated girls with colorful hair. If I were the type of person that actually enjoyed that music, that's all I'd imagine myself doing besides playing it on DDR.
That's my personal opinion. I hope it does not offend anyone. :p

I dunno, DDR is starting to remind me of Pump and its K-Pop and interesting animations. I like that direction, though it's mostly because I tend to like asian pop songs.Post #1238 · Posted at 2016-04-26 03:29:27am 9.5 years ago

Fans: "What are the new songs?"

I like how DDR gets an anime-style song that ACTUALLY SOUNDS GOOD FOR ONCE (Houkago Stride) and that's when everyone decides to do what I get chastised for - complain. And complain incessantly.
