Ultimately, it's Konami's decision which songs get a Challenge chart and which ones stay Forever a Heavy. If anything, and I mean this in the slightest, players could give them feedback to let them know what song they want to have a Challenge chart or not, but seeing that it's never happened to some degree, it falls under Konami's own jurisdiction.

Konami wants your money, Konami gets it.

Konami sues you, you get sued.

Konami suddenly wants to ship their artists because they found out Tumblr loves that shit, IT GETS DONE.

Konami is love, Konami is life.

That is where some mental gymnastics come in handy.

Maybe I was just naive in the fact that I considered DDR 2013 a "revamp" of the series [just like DDRX was supposed to be a 'celebration' of DDR. Yeah...Oops] so they would added some "nostalgia" remixes that are "foreign" to the Asian markets such as Exotic Ethnic or-if-is mix, Midnight Blaze (SySF Mix), Tsugaru or-if-is mix and some others I have questionable thoughts about [the insertion and Absolute remixes. I dunno if they had AC releases yet?].

I choose not to understand the crossover nonsense with Konami between DDR and other Bemani games or even CS stuff.

I guess you have to blow Naoki and/or TAG to get what you want.

Here's the easiest explanation. They are Asian. We are not. We do NOT like the same things. DDR X was a huge hit in Japan. It was a huge flop here and it's not just because of the pads. People disliked the CS release as well. We simply do not like the same things. People talk about the glory days of DDR, i.e. DDR Extreme. When they talk about good songs from then they mention all Dancemania licenses. What they liked was Dancemania, not old DDR (let's see them jump at the chance to play 22 Dunk again).

You can even see this in the charting styles. Xbox charts that came from American charters focused heavily on the rhythm where as Japanese charters focus on body movement or charts that are different, containing tricky parts, etc. Many Japanese fans felt like the SuperNOVA 2 boss charts where over charted as such in order to appease the western crowd. Just goes to show that we are two different cultures who like different things in our rhythm games.

This could be THE DDR that gets me excited about DDR again, after going through X2 and keeping only 16 simfiles because i didnt like the other charts, and going through X3 and only keeping 19, I thought it'd go downhill more, but every chart i've seen so far looks really good, I'm actually looking forward to playing this DDR and i havent said that in a long while Smile

You say that as if it would be difficult.

I volunteer to be our official "blow-person" so we get what we want.

Start writing out your demands requests, folks.

This ties into a bigger problem which is why music and rhythm games are so difficult to develop. Different cultures like different things, and even places like US and Europe, which share a lot of the same music taste, still differ and have their own personal charts and likes.

Afronova and End of the Century were huge in arcades here, and might have even been played more than the licences. "Dance versions of popular hits" sort of worked back when DDR was new and the ubiquitous dance game, but these days people are spoiled on games like Just Dance which do a better job of appealing to the west. DDR's quirkiness has actually been turned against it.

Continuing the subject change, I wonder what the enjoy level goes up to in this DDR. Probably 1000 like past DDRs. Since the level climb is slower in this, that would keep players busy for a long while Big Grin

So far unlocks goes only up to level 100. (well AFAIK that's the case on previous mixes too)
there's no reason to grind your enjoy levels after that but still people do get ridiculously high enjoy levels.

Is anyone currently working on simfiles for the songs we have lineouts of? I saw that the Expert of WILD SIDE was up but I wanted to know if I could help further.

I'm working on most of it, got Tsukematsukeru LightHeavy earlier. You'll need co-ownership but right now I think I have it under control for the most part.

These are up:
