All PS3s are region-free, but I'm pretty sure only the really early ones can play PS2 games without an emulator, and if you try to play Beatmania on them, you get a similar effect to playing Beatmania on a PAL PSX :{

Ugh, I guess this confirms it being a DVD9.
I really don't want to splash out on a JPS2 just for this game.

Time to find some modchips I guess.

I still think it will be two discs. One for empress, one for best hits.
But yeah, this is awesome. We need a countdown ASAP. :V

PS3s are NOT region free! PS3 format games are region free.
If you try to play a JP PS2 game on a US PS3 (backwards compatible), it won't let you.

I am still not sure of this, if it is Empress + Premium Best, that leads me to believe there will most likely be 2 single layer discs.

Fixed. Also, the "+ Premium Best" thing to me suggests two discs but who knows? Two discs would be nice for us SwapMagic crowd... =D

USPS3s don't play PS2 games that aren't for the US.

PS2. The PS3 doesn't fully replicate how the PS2 handled games which changes the graphics, plus it introduces some lag. And since PS3 games are region free, you don't need to get a JP PS3 for anything else but the PS2 games.

If it was one disc, it probably would've been called IIDX 16: EMPRESS CS. That would be it. The Addition of the +Premium Best sounds like they are adding something extra to it. I wouldn't mind shelling out extra money for a 2-disc set.

EDIT: New theory; There are 126 revivals listed on the score collection page. Take away 20 or so to revive on empress, and you have the average number of songs for a single beatmania IIDX game. I think this supports the 2-disc idea.
