Am of Irish decent so I'm not sure what that means. Unless you meant Irish and drunk.

The irish had that very long catholic/protestant war, which is what I believe Oni is referring to.
Also, the major religions are all quite different at their core. They all go far deeper than the generalized "be a good person/believe in God".

Accepting. As best I can be, at least. I guess to some people that would make me agnostic.

Everybody's gotta believe something, even if you insist that you don't fall into a category.

I don't think I have much of a Religion, but I do celebrate some Christian events along with my family. I go to church with them, celebrate Christmass, and I read my Bible.
Speaking of Christmass, I am hoping to get a good DDR/Stepmania pad, all I have right now for Stepmania is a Veggie Tales one.

I believe in the Christian Faith. Though many may challenge that there is no god lets really examine this.
-Science has proven that everything was born out of something so what else could have created us?
-If there is no God then how were we made?
-We cannot been created out of thin air, something or someone has created us and Christianity is the only valid option
-Christianity doesn't exactly have a code. Just believe Jesus is your savior, we all have sin in our lives and go on in your lives as a good person that believes in god
-Since we are created by him do you think he would have had the chance to make us all into his slaves? No, he gave all of us a choice to believe in him or not. If he REALLY wanted to this conversation would never happen and we would all be his mindless zombies.
Though I will have to say somethings about Christianity turns me out
-The Preachers. I know spreading Christianity is good and all but some people take Religion WAY too seriously. Its just a way of living. Just accept it in your life and go on with your business. You don't have to Preach "Oh he such the greatest person in the world!" Yeah we get that, now let us be with our lives without shoving it down our throats.
-How some people "claim" that religion can change you. I honestly found it hard to put this in but just to say God doesn't choose how your life is. YOU CHOOSE. Its your life and its your cause. Its up to you to decide if you want to become a christian or not, all of it is up to personal preference.
Honestly i'll buy into the other stuff about god but honestly if I never came up to this point on religion I would have been a strict Methodist. I respect anyone else's opinion on God or Religion. Its nice to see a peaceful conversation about this.

"Take your hater shades off." |
I'd like to be Christian, as everyone in my family worships the same God. I just believe that something got them through all the awful crud they went through, and someone as much of a failure as me had to have some sort of higher help to keep me from, I don't know, dying (or failing) from stupidity. To say "I went through something horrible" is a stretch, but there were so many times I wished something different happened in my life... but when everything started to fall into place, in part because of mistakes I made like ruining relationships with people or what have you, it just seems like every sad moment happened for a reason or really didn't hurt my life in the long run, and I credited it to some higher power that guided me on the right path. Among my dad's favorite verses is the one about God having a plan for good for people, and while I haven't read the Bible at all, that one sort of stuck out.
Well, and I did open it up one day randomly and started around the page with some prayer about how the writer was saying how worthless he was without God, and how despite feeling low and unworthy, God loved him anyway. It's probably like the first page in Psalms and not as fateful a find as I feel like it was, but it was too relatable to forget.
But despite that, I can't generate this undying love and desire to worship like most Christians have. I believe there is a God; I just have an inability to love something spiritual, I guess. :\ Nor do I feel any better knowing that God or Jesus "loves" me. Widespread unconditional love just seems obligatory rather than meaningful, even if nice things come out of it. And I hate obligatory gestures... ^^; If I had a title, it would just be "terrible Christian." But we're all sinful and equal in the end, I suppose.

It could go either way for you Sak but there really isn't a thing called a terrible christian. Honestly i'm just like you when it comes to worship. I know God is good and everything but...do we have to do this everyday? I pray every now and then but honestly its optional not a command to do. For the bad events its not his fault but honestly God cannot choose your path you choose you own, he gave us all a choice as to rather follow him or not, love him or hate him, follow his judgement or not, its all up to you and your inner instinct to choose how you react to things. Don't make yourself a failure in life because of mistakes because it happens to everyone just brush yourself off and get back up on your feet. Its your choice to believe that you are a failure in life or not. Hope that clears things up for you.

I have a hard time wanting to pray, myself. Not much happens on a daily basis, so what is there to pray about? If something bad or significant happens, then I remind myself to pray. And I only pray before I go to bed, seldomly before work. I percieve praying as a private practice because you are communicating directly with God. Praying in a group doesn't mean that you're as a devout of a follower as the one who started the prayer. For all we know, you could be tuning out the prayer with your own thoughts.
And I don't understand why so many Athiests say "Oh my G-d" when they don't believe in a God.

WOW! When students at Texas A&M found out that the Westboro Baptist Church was planning a protest at the funeral of a soldier who was killed in active duty, they formed a "maroon wall" around the church to shelter the family and friends of the fallen soldier.
Take that WBC!
