If you play on CMod or blindfolded or upside down they don't matter either, what's your point? I think the main argument is that the gimmicks feel straight up unnatural and unfun. Learning them doesn't change that.

Gimmicks aren’t bad. I love Chaos Terror Tech, you can hear the changes in Pluto Relinquish in the intensity of the song, Maxx Unlimited is a master class in BPM doubling with minor slow downs and speed ups, SP-Trip Machine Jungle Mix (SMM Special) is fucking great, there are a lot of user simfiles that are also really damn good. This just isn’t it. Nothing about it looks fun to play.

I never once said the gimmicks in this case were good or tried to defend them at all; I think less/none of them is perfectly fine too. I just wanted to give charts like Lets's DANCE aROUND , Crazy Shuffle , DOWNER & UPPER , etc. the promotion they deserve because I think the game needs a lot more charts like them.

Those who know me understand I'm not even remotely close to being a denpa fan. However, this song is adorable and well made, so I can't help but love it. The usage of Voiceroid mixed with Vocaloid makes Una's voice seem unusually natural. There's true talent to making Vocaloid banks sound as good as this. Also, the animation and art is too cute. Konami picked a winner, here.

IIRC it was like 3 or 4 months before A20 came to white cabs, but then A20+ was instantly applied to both gold and white cabs

Really good update. Kanbu de Tomatte Sugu Tokeru (aka Overdrive) and Usatei really takes me back to the really early Nico Nico Douga days. I never thought these songs would ever officially make it into DDR (same with Marisa Stole the Precious Thing, which was why I stepped them so far long ago as a sort of wish for this).

Definitely all good song additions.

Wow, 患部で止まってすぐ溶ける～狂気の優曇華院 is an insane throwback. I legitimately forgot about that song entirely, so hearing it now feels like unlocking a lost memory. I was not expecting this today, in 2022, and through DDR of all things lol

Watching the two charts now, there's definitely quite a few references in it.

in Kanbu de Tomatte Sugu Tokeru, at 0:56 talking section, the girls are mocking the player playing Touhou on "Easy Mode" (popular meme in the community referring to "Ijji Modo"). As reference, it looks like they went and referenced "Lesson by DJ" with an even more simplified version of the "DDR" section of the chart, hence the "Easy mode" part.

In the section right after, the chart is referencing the DDR chart in the video. However, the staircase section is definitely downgraded/simplified to be 8ths instead of 16ths like the video was. Disappointing, but maybe it's being saved for a future Challenge chart?


In Usatei, the chart at 1:11 are mostly jumps following the "Tewi!" chants in the background, making the player "bounce" around like a rabbit since the character used in the video is a rabbit character.

Anyways, these are pretty important songs that basically encapsulates the Japanese internet days back then, just like Marisa Stole the Precious Thing did as well. It'll probably be pretty off-putting for newer players since this is really old style doujin denpa style music, so it's understandable.

These are trash. And they're 14s, too. This is one reason why I'm not one of those people who grind out songs for MFCs, I couldn't choose to listen to this shit repeatedly when there are so many better songs in this game.
