Problem is, I think Konami are just going to end up using the dancing characters and 3D backgrounds more and more. My reasoning for this is that it must be way cheaper for them to simply develop their own BG effects than to licence the original music video for any song. It's a real shame because I love seeing the original video when I'm grooving to recognisable songs but Konami will likely go for the option which saves them the most money.

But weird. Why on DDR Universe , Konami still give all video BG and BG wallpaper for each songs but not for DDR HP2 and DDR X?

The PS2 series is trying something different, but the Xbox/360 tries to be different from the PS2 games, not similar.

If I remember correctly, the X-Box games have a different developer.

Ultramix/Universe is made by Konami of Hawaii, and the PS2 series is made by Konami of North America.

I envy for Ultramix and Universe series. DDR SN1, DDR SN2, DDR HP , DDR HP2 and DDR X are same project (no BG , less video BG and focusing only dancer on stages) and those DDR looks worse than DDR Universe/ Ultramix that have all BG, full video BG . If Konami Hawaii can make perfect DDR like that, why Konami America make it worst? Financial crisis ? DDR on crisis?

Almost all the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 versions of Dance Dance Revolution have been made by KCET (Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo), now KCEJ (Konami Computer Entertainment Japan), and only published by KoA (Konami of America).
The Ultramix and Universe series in America have all been done by KoH (Konami of Hawaii, now KDE (Konami Digitial Entertainment). Also published by KoH (KDE).
Then there's Mario Mix (Nintendo) and Disney Channel Edition (Keen Games). Again, published by KoA.
The only games that have actually been produced by Konami of America is the one exclusive arcade game we've ever had; Dance Dance Revolution USA. Weeeee...

Actually, many players turn off the BG videos in Universe because it interferes with the gameplay too much.

NeoRevenG: They both have their pros and cons. PS2 only has banners, but they're usually good quality. Universe is sometimes random or generic.
If I had my way, I'd show the background at the beginning, which would fade into the character dancing in front of screens displaying video clips and messages like those the announcer would say.

Oh, i see. Instead shows up banner again like DDR SN style, why don't Konami shows the BG before the songs started. After waiting for a few seconds, there no problem if we watch the BG or not. And for bonus, on Option there are new option like DDR 5th Mix, Gallery Mode that contain all BG for all songs from DDR 1st Mix until DDR SN2 so far this. What do you think?

My idea is a fair compromise between the stage setup they want to use and the backgrounds we want.
Gallery Mode? That's over 1000 backgrounds used just for show.
In 5th Mix, the number was only around 200, so it wasn't as big a deal.

WTF?? Seriously, their more turning out to be like lego people now.
I don't think I've seen any improvement from this game so far. Hopefully it does.

If you didn't notice, they're implementing your Miis into the game, hence the lego look.
