Eh what? It's fine here.

No, I'm pretty sure that you got the values correct from the official file. I'm talking about the person who came up with those pauses at Konami. They did it incorrectly.

Wow, thanks for getting us the simfile that fast, al.

Now, there's only one song left. Or is there.... *hopes for more new songs*
So in my brief return, I am going to slowly but surely work on a new simfile mix called TEMPEST. Still workin' on it. Preview -->

To me, heavy is fine being an 8, just because it seems a little too technical to be a 7. Challenge... FUN STEPS, but not a 10. They feel more like a 9 to me, especially since the max combo is 437. That seems a little too high for an 8, combo wise. Though, this is something I'm definately going to want to play!

I agree 100%. And the Double charts look really fun too, especially the 8.

Except one thing. How hard is it to get the pause values correct? The person who seemed to sync this, Poseidon and L'amour made all the pause values wrong. All of them are quarter note too long, or just don't belong (I think that of the first pause in Uranus).

Most of the pauses in songs exclusive to SN and SN2 have been timed incorrectly (the boss songs are a rather odd exception). The only reason I can think of is the Japanese step designer (I'm guessing there's only one) is really ill-suited for his job.

I'm not exactly sure what the problem is with the pauses. All the vids I've seen of L'Amour, the stops have been pretty accurate.

Well, I think the stops for GIRIGILI I think are wrong, too....

There are a few songs new to SN and SN2 with pauses that end on a beat where there should've been a note. True Love is a good example of one that has been released in the US. The same problem is present in Poseidon ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdpoymINeYg ), Uranus, L'amour remix (the pause right after the build-up) and a few others. As far as I know, the phenomenon is not present in any other DDR mix.
Also, I'd like to note right now that although the heavy steps for Uranus are fairly tolerable, the oni chart really doesn't do the song justice. Perhaps the guy who recommended that Uranus should have a 10-foot oni had a completely different chart in mind...

There's the DWI/SM file. You can try it first-hand.

One little question for al2k4

how in the world did you have the complete simfile for Uranus before a video was uploaded?

Too colorful of a banner, in my opinion. When you think of this tatsh-type song, and it being Uranus and all, you'd think of something colder, darker... I liked the banner for the custom simfile of Uranus better. ;)

And I still can't believe this is a 10, with Paranoia Hades' expert 9-rating. It's almost like they hire a bunch of different people rate the charts, none of whom even see what all of the charts look like for difficulty comparison. Confused

Off-topic: How hard do you think it would be for me to learn Japanese? I want to take it as my second language next year, and I'm serious about trying it.

AFAIK, the songs are rated first, then the steps are made by someone else. Apparently, they don't test the steps after they're made. It's a shame, really. Obviously, the guy who rated Venus and Uranus had the right idea for how difficult those songs should be, but the step designer must be really bad at his job, especially considering the fact that Uranus oni has ridiculous spins in it.
