apparently my SM is stupid and doesn't have Mine adding capabilities :/

Use the latest OpenITG or StepMania 5 for a stable .sm editor with mine support.

Moving on, I still can't decide whether or not I like The Reason Challenge or not.

I'm torn about Unreal^2 THE JUMPING THE REASON Challenge
I see what they want to do, and I want to like it, but the jumps are kind of awkward, and it doesn't really flow all that well. I'm sure it's better than the expert chart, but i'd rather not have to settle for these steps when they could be placed better and have a more natural flow.

Not really, the charts are on the whole good, it's just that most of the time the song doesn't exactly warrant the difficulty. Either way it's nice that we're getting more in the 13-15 range lately.

Am I the only person that enjoys Shock charts? Some of them are really fun and I like a lot of the new ones they have been coming up with.

Also I like The Reason Challenge. We need more charts like it in the game. There just isn't enough jumpy songs in the game besides dumb ones like Air Special. Unreal was like the only exception.

Yeah, I still can't decide whether it's a good chart or the air's a bit too much. I'm still in the mindset that the best jump-heavy chart is Candy* on Doubles.

I kind of like shock charts, especially the more recent ones. When they first started using shock arrows, the charts weren't all that great, but now the newer ones are better. Probably wouldn't play them that much regardless, but the idea is neat. Memeshikute still has the best shock arrow chart out of them all Puppy Face

I wouldn't mind the jumps in The Reason as much if I was pro enough not to regularly get my feet tangled between step-jumps and jump-steps, but the random 32nds bug me more than anything and kinda make the chart stereotypically-ITG-y. Somehow you found me kinda does that with 16ths, but they seem to fit sssssometimes.

Desert confuses me without actually playing it because I don't play enough shock charts to know what all that jumping is like. : D...

I think the 32nd's fit well with the song. Its going to be difficult to PFC the song because of them, especially when they go into a jump but that makes the game more challenging. And its not like we haven't seen it before (I mean look at Dynamite Rave's notorious 16th stream on a jump segment).

Also DDR really needs to get out of its "its too easy or too difficult" zone. You have 19's but they are shitty charts. You have 15's and 16's that are just challenging because they run at 300+ BPM. Add some flavor to this bitch please. I'm So Happy Challenge was probably the only song in recent memory that really broke that middleground between the giant strains of difficulty and speed with zero gimmicks.

The end bit of X3 had some good stuff for that. Go For The Top springs to mind.

I would just like to point out that PARANOiA (Kskst remix) Heavy is one of the first 17s (would be 18s if if it had a Challenge chart) to not use any sort of those gimmicks

The 32nds in THE REASON almost all go with the bass rolls which are kind of classic Black Rose Garden. I'm happy they took advantage of them, I was always unhappy with what 32nds there were in the Expert charts didn't actually line up with the bass rolls. I really dig THE REASON's Challenge chart a lot. Smile Between this and The Island Song, I'm liking these slow, challenging songs, I've always liked stuff like that (Shiny World also comes to mind).

And the more I see it, the more I like Somehow You Found Me, it's just that the song really doesn't fit such difficult steps, but at least they follow the song (making up some parts of course) and flow well.

EDIT: Looking at THE REASON again, they've updated the banner for it so the fonts don't look so cheesy!

What about HAPPY ANGEL?

And as of a week ago I would have agreed with you. But now my favorite jumpfest is Children of the Beat.

I don't like shock arrows but as long as they flow with a good chart properly and are decently challenging (Alstroemeria, Diamond Dust, Horatio, Mermaid Girl), I'm fine with it. I'm sure you agree that any shock arrow charts that are painfully easy (Dancemania X-edits, Ice Ice Baby to name a few) suck big time.

Monkey Business Line Out

These are amazing. They basically give us a complete simfile (exact same audio as the arcade, chart to copy, CD Jacket)

I'll do the Shock Arrow charts right now, so we have a ton of new stuff to play this weekend.
