User Ratings

I understand that we are supposed to give ratings for the right reasons. When people are unfairly rated down to -20pts for a thread that really had no point, they did it for a completely wrong reason. Sure it was pointless, but you don't give -5s to stupid posts, you give -5s for "Serious misconduct, flaming and/or tantrums only." And honestly? You can't even give a -1 because his post wasn't off topic, it was its own thread.

I +5d him in hopes of helping him reach what he was, because he didn't do anything to deserve that rating. I get I wasn't supposed to do that, but people were being dumbasses and lowering him only because "oh we all know that/there's no proof stupid here lemme -5 you, you deserve it".

Also, I agree with MENDES. The ratings on this website have little to no purpose anymore, and they're only so we can get a simfile category. Right now, I can understand why we have it (so people can see who are helpful and friendly), but when people abuse it and -5 everyone who has a different opinion than them, it makes the rating system counterproductive. It works out for some of us, but in the end it's the little guys who get demolished for being different.

This rating system is bunk.

So, from what I understand, one half says 'the rating system is being abused' and the other half says 'the rating system is being abused because people claim it's being abused'.

In my eyes, If you can't rate people properly, then don't bothering rating at all. It's a trust system, you're trusted to know what is right and what is wrong, it's not that difficult. giving out -5s just because you don't agree with someone's opinion is nonsensical, as is giving someone a +5 because you agree with an opinion or because you're friends with them. If someone gets a lot of negative points for no reason, you're better off posting in here rather than dishing out +5s to try and balance it out, that's just more trouble. It should be based on site contribution, nothing more.

Just wanna take this time to say that the almost 100 point drop I've encountered the other day is absolutely heinous and defamatory and I wanna know how you can all sleep at night knowing that this radical injustice has occurred.

(really i don't care that much but it sucks because i like the medal you get when you're over 100 points and i think i deserve that )

My rating is at -1, even though it used to be about 8. All I did was create a topic about an obscure Rhythm Game and ask a question about a Capcom license.

Maybe because you've previously been banned from this very site for making pointless, stupid posts, and after you rejoined you continued to post the very same pointless, stupid posts.

For the 3rd time, I was never banned before. The posts I made have a point, like the VJ: Visual & Music Slap one, or that question about what Hagitoko was that I asked after Hagitoko´s theme got removed from CROSSxBEATS.

You had a duplicate account, correct? Because if you did, that account would have been banned. Ergo you technically were banned.

I believe it was Ryan that did it, so if he can get himself in here to explain in detail how it went down, that'd be fantastic.

You're probably not going to get far saying a well respected and trusted moderator, who has the ability to IP check other members, is wrong on an issue that is usually discovered via IP checking someone.

Are you saying that moderators can see the IP adress of any account on this site? If so, I´ll have to remind you: People tend to move in and out of IP adresses.
