Heh well, I'm sure the Japanese version will have these popular American songs replaced with popular Japanese licenses.
Plus that new TERRA stage implies we're getting a new song from them :3.

KISS? IN DDR?! WUT?! LMAO (6th album cover is the cover of the Destroyer album)
resident kiss army member here. good eye. i dont normally watch the videos(i let all of you watch them, then let you tell me what happened), but after seeing this i had to watch it. having said that, this is a horrible, horrible, horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE idea. track listing-
1. detroit rock city
2. king of the night time world
3. god of thunder
4. great expectations
5. flaming youth
6. sweet pain
7. shout it out loud
8. beth
9. do you love me
10. (untitled bonus track)
kiss has 6 hit songs off of this CD(1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9) with the rest of the songs still being popular among hardcore fans. given the subject content and sound of the hits, i think we can rule out detroit rock city(getting drunk, getting stoned, getting behind the wheel of a car, and driving head on into a truck), king of the night time world(sex, lots of it), and god of thunder(too "dark" for DDR). shout it out loud has been a huge hit for them, so was do you love me, but beth was the B-side for the detroit rock city single, and quite frankly is the song that sold the single(which almost never happens, the B-side is supposed to be a "throw away" track). despite do you love me being a big hit, and not inappropriate for DDR, i dont see them using it. they tend to go for the well known track, and most people wont know that track.
this leaves us with beth and shout it out loud. beth is an amazing song, but lets face it, it isnt very danceable. shout it out loud, on the other hand, is often times the song before rock and roll all nite at a kiss concert. for kiss fans, shout it out loud is just as epic of a song, plus even if it isnt a "dance" track, its still danceable to some extent. still, i've never thought that rock music has had any place in DDR, and i always groan when they announce a rock track for it. i mean, i have guitar hero for rock music. anyway, if i had to bet money on a kiss song for DDR from this album, it would be shout it out loud.
this is if we even get a kiss song(as big of a kiss fan as i am, i'm hoping we dont). was there any chance they showed the album covers for the licenses of KR and DDR at the same time?
edit- for those that dont know it.
You're right. I'm not exactly sure WTF is going on here but, who knows!
Also:
If we can figure out those freaking album covers, we have 26 of the supposed 30 licensed artists right there

So....
It looks like this game will single handedly break every weeaboo's heart with it's obvious lack of J-pop songs lol.

I'm pretty sure DDR Festival and DDRX are the only canon games to include multiple Jpop songs?
It'd be interesting to go back and look at all those old Naoki interviews, where he mentioned that most of his favorite songs were western songs. I can't even remember what any of them were, but they might show up now.
The whole point of the new game is that it's a reboot of the series. They have a massive budget this this time, they aren't locked into a contract with EMI anymore, Naoki is completely in charge, and he's free to use the music he wants, without being forced to advertise Dancemania records, or take the same shortcuts that Stillwind did.
I'm sure there ARE people out there who really believe DDR was a quirky foreign game full of popular japanese music, but that's their fault for not paying attention ^^;

Well, not just J-Pop (be it licensed or Konami Original, an I believe far more games had them)
It's also all those freaks who wouldn't be playing the game if these an other songs didn't have their cute little anime videos in them either

Ya know, going back to the whole DoLL and Xepher thing.

You've lost me. I stopped playing long before Xepher came out, and I have no idea how it's an "anime video". The BGA is just a few still images being moved across a frame. I don't think there's even any animation in it?
I know Xepher's insanely popular, but that's expected, because it's a the 'Boss Song' in a IIDX game - same thing with Sakura?
Is it the new Afronova now, or something?

If you went Troc during the heydays of when DS SuperNOVA was popular, you'll see DoLL or Xepher being played at least once every 30 minutes. And I doubt it's cos they know it's a boss song from IIDX, they are playing it because of the fact it has a video.

Loads of misinformed players think that the characters in the vids for DoLL and Xepher are in an anime because it's drawn that way.I know Xepher's insanely popular, but that's expected, because it's a the 'Boss Song' in a IIDX game - same thing with Sakura?

STRIKE had a few covers of Japanese songs, as well.Post #1069 · Posted at 2009-06-07 02:27:33am 16 years ago

Just in case anyone wanted it...
Taking It To the Sky
Just so you don't have to watch that video to see what it sounds like. It sounds nice from what you can hear..

One of the album covers is the Prodigy also. The album "Their Law"
Considering that it's a compilation of all of their singles, I don't think we're gonna be able to guess the song for that one. Nice to see them in it, although I hope Konami doesn't end up using Invaders Must Die. It isn't as good as their other songs IMO.Watch the Rick Astley song be Together Forever. It'll be a double Rick Roll.

Nice to see that Naoki's producing the DDR games now. After being with Konami for so long, he's probably the only staff member from the original DDR left.

Pork and Beans...
Never would expect a song like that to appear on DDR (and KISS too) but what the hell? WE GOT THEM ON THERE and i am one happy camper
PCD not too fond of (ESPECIALLY THAT song
) "Jai Ho" or whatever that one song is called could have been a better choice.

Did anyone get a video of the dynamite rave chart? Do we know if it's even the same chart that's on ex2?

I think they changed the chart with it, to fit the "new" lyrics and stuff......not sure if there is a chart that can be seen on video

They better make that chart harder though, or add an expert chart, because a 9 on this scale for a song like that, is an insult.

It can't be the same chart because the new one is a 9 on the X scale and it lacks a challenge chart.

An old-style 7 for a Eurodance song? That isn't an insult at all. I never thought the song was old-9 material anyway.Post #1078 · Posted at 2009-06-07 06:55:21am 16 years ago

I'm actually glad. I wasn't fond of the old EXPERT chart especially with that messed up 16th jump there.

The jump that seems like a never-corrected error? I love that thing, it's so classic and so random, one of DDR's very first combofucks.
