Maybe a dubstep type song will be DDR's first 20 footer because dubstep is very unpredictable and complicated. Just a thought though.Happy
As much as I would love to see how dubstep would be handled in DDR (or ZED to be one of the IIDX crossovers), it's definitely not worthy of a 20.

Anyways, I can't wait to see the rest of the Challenge charts, although I'm still wondering what happened to Another Phase and Blew My Mind from the location test. It seems they'll probably be added into the game later and/or become ES/EES songs somehow.

Anyone else think that Condor's chart is kinda similar to Rephaim's stuff from DDR Universe 3? I'm not particularly sure how to explain it other than that it seems to follow the rhythm extremely closely.

The Island Song is up. Please let me know if there are any mistakes, I'm not accustomed to working with notes over 16th. Also, if you'd like to be added to the category to help out, let me know.

"Give me a steady beat."
Here's the difference with Heavy Rotation.

On X3, the song starts with drum tapping and one of the girls shouting 1,2,3! On DDR, it just goes straight into the song.

Both Expert charts are unchanged from X3.

Mostly unchanged but the intro is removed. On X3, the arrow starts when it's the start of the song on DDR. On DDR, those are trimmed until the lyrics start.

Thoughts on the last couple of pages:

1. Dubstep is horrible.

2. I wish The Island Song had it's BG vid from the PS3

Good mix so far. Now I'm really wishing that the newer CS games had edit mode, though.

This is fair game, considering the videos for REVOLUTIONARY ADDICT and Go For The Top use random clips of PS3 vids.

Pad quality. There are photos of the insides at Aaron in Japan: http://aaronin.jp/boards/viewtopic.php?t=10334&sid=32d67af47c6498628cacfad63497646f

I don't know where photos of the insides of the X pads are, but they feel much better / less tiring to play on / don't need to stomp hard to score well. It's hard to tell the difference from sight because of lights vs. no lights, but from looking it seems the 2013 panels sink significantly when stepped on, whereas the X panels don't seem to do so. (But again, this may just be crap because I find it hard to tell what the X pads do (not do) since they light up.)

Disagreeing with this... Whether the pads are physically smaller or not they don't feel like anything except stiff, seeing as how they've all been in use for a grand total of five days. Yeah, it's a new machine, but the stages themselves have only been changed through iteration (In Japan) since the series started. Judging from the picture on AIJ, all they did was take out the lights (Seeing absolutely spotless stage innards is something to behold as well).

Also I watched someone playing an X cabinet right next to one of the new machine, the panels sink equally when weight is applied. There's nothing cheap-feeling about the new stages. Other than having seen both cabinets at Tokyo Leisure Land 2 crash and reboot at least once, I have not experienced any problems with them. (Though even the Betson machines played like butter for the first few weeks, this is something that should simply be observed for now.)

Once I found the Marvelous window again I started PAing large segments of charts. The reason why we're struggling with the new songs is because they're new, no one has ever played them before. I did a session with nothing but old favorites and immediately started FC AAAing.

Aeron I think you're right that X pads sink equally after watching at Round Ikebukuro, though I guess it also depends on the location.

but I disagree that I'm playing poorly because of new charts - I've PFC'd a lot of stuff on X3 I've never played or watched before (Kouen)

I guess we'll find out in a couple years if the pads end up feeling the same as X? (though I probably won't get to find out personally)

There was something silly and charming about it, and it didn't use random clips that were shared with the rest of the songs in the game.

Yeah. Argue what you will out of DDR '10 being a fail, mostly on charting; but the BG vids for the most part were totally sweet. I also loved the extra Perfect/Great/etc. effects and the silhouette dancers.

Haven't seen it happen personally, but it's still funny as hell. Doesn't make all the new machines lemons.

Just don't play in Reverse.
