For those of us without SN2, it really would have been nice if EVERY nonstop/challenge course had a name input, not just 2 each. It would be nice to make known that I beat 4 challenge courses, but only SuperNOVA and Sparkle are displayed and allow the input to be recorded in some manner. ![]() Also, I bugged my arcade manager again for the seventh time about SN2, first time in about 50 days. He claims he'll "look into it", as if I have never told him about it. Aghphfbphblargh fgsfds |
Which means, Gameworks is not going to get it anytime SOON!

One thing that makes a big difference in how draining a song is, is how familiar you are with the steps. If you're more familiar with it, you unconsciously plan ahead, and figure out how to use less energy while doing it. So CSFILSM drains you less because you know it better, and conserve energy better. Just like R&P drains me less than Mondo Street, because I know R&P better. (actually, that statement might be inaccurate, it's been a while since I did Mondo Street) |
I don't think so, because I've probably played SUNKiSS DROP more than I've played CSFILSM, altogether. I've played SUNKiSS DROP on Stepmania a LOT, and I've played it on SN2 at home. So I'm definitely familiar with the steps... good thing too, because I think otherwise, if I hadn't known exactly what steps were coming up when, I might've actually failed when I played it in the arcade.
CSFILSM is kinda like 'it's draining, but not too bad'. I know I'm not going to pass out after playing it. SUNKiSS DROP, however... holy crap. Maybe I just didn't warm up enough, perhaps?

That, and SUNKiSS DROP is 15 bpm faster than CSFILSM. I've played SUN quite a bit too ever since the unlock codes came out. If it were on a Challenge course, I wouldn't make it past that song.

Gentlemen.
Knowing a chart only causes you to conserve a little extra energy if you sightread songs above 300 BPM speed. (not neccisarily 300 BPM arrows, just the speed at which they move) Every single step is a surprise while you sightread a song (or at least play it unprepared for what's in store), and crossovers/double-steps are even more of a surprise. These surprises will cause you to move your feet frantically in a split-second to each next arrow if you're sightreading the chart. Possibly, you'll double-step some easy crossovers if you sightread over 450 BPM. (I never do that, ~400 BPM is my max speed I'm willing to sightread)
If you know a chart, say, Under the Sky, and you're playing it for your first time on 3x, you would NEVER expect that song's ending, much less the crossovers. You would lose control a little, and waste alot of energy. Even if it wasn't a sightread and you (at the most) knew there was a fast part at the end, you would be a little frantic and cautious while crossing over to watch for double-steps, like the stuff in HVAM where the double-steps could be around a crossover, potentially messing you up.
In the case of CSFILSM, you would move less and with more fluidity with your foot across the pad on the crossovers if you're ready for them. If you weren't, your body wouldn't be already turned to the right or left at the crossover parts, and you use more energy and step farther when you're not turned for a crossover. It's hard to compare CSFILSM to SKD since, when you think about it, the crossovers in SKD are set up in such a way that you start and end each crossover on the same foot in each little crossover run, effectively tiring out one foot more than the other, instead of equally sharing the load like in CSFILSM with the crossover streams.

So... basically, CSFILSM has a less draining chart, and it's a tad slower, so SKD is actually a bit harder, stamina-wise. So, I was right?
(Also, lol at 'gentlemen'. I've never been called a gentleman before!) ;D

They are essentially equally draining, however SKD acheives a high drain with fewer arrows because of the crossover placement.

Great, next you'll be saying SKD should be a 9, even though the steps are dirt simple, except for two exceptions. I find it less draining than CSFILSM, because of the fewer steps, and the lack of the taps that CSFILSM has.
As for sightreading, I find that density matters more than speed for me. I can't sightread 8ths at 125 x4 and move smoothly, but make it 16ths at 125 x4, and I'll move smoothly just fine. Anything spaced more or less than 4ths x1 apart is just harder for me to read.

Nah, I don't rate songs because the rating system is so out-of-wack I don't even know what a 9 is anymore.
I've found technique to be a more important factor in energy drain than density, as long as the densities are relatively close. I just personally found them to be equally draining, but it's fine if you think SKD is easier since different people have slightly different technique to their moves. Plus, my stamina has decreased lately anyway.

Probably from smoking 20 cigarettes at once. I bet if you stop smoking, you'll get a new job that pays 3 times as much, and 5 girlfriends.

Gentlemen. >8(
Girlfriends are such nags to their boys, as far as I've observed with my friends. No thanks, at least until later college years.
Also, Team Fortress 2.
Back on topic: Just for clarification, SN2 DOES save scores without e-amuse, right? If I got the highest score on a song, would it save that high score, display my name and the score every time it's played, show the score on the song select screen, and put the letter grade next to that song's difficulty on the song select screen? I'm one of the best players in my area, so this is just as good as e-amuse, if true.

If a SN2 machine is in Local Mode, it only saves high scores for courses, not individual songs (unfortunately)

Wha-wha-what?
Well, luckily for me, I'll never have to worry about that. I'm not planning on getting a girlfriend any time soon. Or a boyfriend, for that matter. I plan on flying solo 'til the day I die.

Okay, back on-topic (slightly): the taps in CSFILSM aren't that hard for me anymore. I dunno, they used to be, but all of a sudden... they weren't.
So has there been ANY news about e-amuse coming to other machines elsewhere in the country? Anything?

Okay, I did them both again last night so I could compare them fairly, and I guess they're about the same. My judgement was just misplaced by the fact that I had less stamina the last time I did CSFILSM. And this time, I actually comboed 3/4 of the tap streams. Yay.

I got to level 104 today when I went to BZN. I was supposed to go to six flags, but I simply could not, almost every canceled at the last minute, so I took a trip to BZN.
I glitched the game when i went there too. It thinks you inserted 2 credits, but only one is inserted, and it thinks 2 people are going to play when one uses the e-amuse pass, and one does not, and accepts entry. After that you are taken to the select mode screen, where you caqn not choose any options. It also does not show all the graphics for the game. After that you are taken to the warning screen, where your e-amuse card get ejected, and takes you back to the log in screen afterwards, with one credit still inserted.
I have a video, and some pictures I will upload tomorrow.
