Happy is probably one of the last of DDR A’s licenses I would’ve picked to revive, but it’s fun.
Blinding Lights and Rain On Me are awesome picks.

Welllllll, to be fair, old skool DDR definitely had a habit of reaching back years and years to get popular licenses for the arcade DDRs alongside the Dancemania stuff. It also happened many times with home releases. I think we just got so used to how they did licenses in the past 10 yrs or so to expect they would only do songs that are within 5 yrs old, kinda like how they did US home releases (songs like 2-4 yrs old, one or 2 songs from the 80s, maybe the 70s).
So while Firework wouldn't have been my first choice of a Katy Perry song, it's......fine.....I guess.

Oh wow. This is actually my first time seeing Realize's music video (and charts lol. Wish I played them before they got removed) How did they get away with THAT much blood and gore from a music video for a game catered to all ages in Japan?

I already saw that they could handle the suggestive content by just leaving the scantily clad women and the twerking intact in Play Hard's MV, and they were rather inconsistent with profanity like keeping the the "ass" in Time Of Our Lives intact but censoring "fuck" and "bitch" in I'm an Albatraoz (something to do with the hierarchy, perhaps, like "ass" more "acceptable" to keep in than "bitch?"). So until I saw Realize's music video now, I guess they're keeping whatever level of blood and gore there are in Blinding Light's and Rain On Me's music videos in. I was much more focused on the Western licenses that I completely forgot about the Japanese ones

Yeah but it didn't seem as weird to me when DDR included songs from the 80s, because DDR didn't exist in the 80s. In those cases it wasn't like they already had the opportune time frame to include the song but they missed it. Firework should've been in DDR II for the Wii.

Honestly, pretty good song choices. Fingers crossed we get more Western licenses.

If you look at remywiki's song list, you'll find that they also included songs from the 70s as well.
Euromix only had about 5 licenses, the rest were pure BEMANI.

So are we to sadly think that Konami is done with adding new to legacy songs? It's been about 3 months since the last batch, and I'd bet a handful of us are starting to get fidgety and itchy from withdrawal from not having any....
