Who's excited for the Royal Rumble?

I personally am devastated that the Royal Rumble Match is FOR the WWE Championship... *smfh*
Most of the time I'm excited for it as it's my favorite PPV, but the last few years of it have been very bad. I've honestly not seen a single RAW this year because I just have better things to do than get pissed off with booking. I'll watch the Rumble by the chance something exciting and unexpected happens but I'm not getting my hopes up for anything.

As for Austin Aries, I think it can be a really good sign if they do it right. My fear is AA might be too small to be a main event player. If done right, he could fit the Daniel Bryan role pretty well, especially if Bryan is done.

"five minute white boy challenge"
Dream outcome: AJ Styles swerve, eliminates Roman Reigns last

Slightly more likely but still would be awesome outcome: Undertaker gets one last run with the belt, retires at WM32

Looking more likely but I wouldn't complain: Brock Lesnar fucks everyone up, says 'suplex city bitch', leaves with belt

50/50 outcome I'd boo: Roman Reigns wins, obvs

50/50 outcome I'd cry over: Triple H wins and puts himself in the main event of 'mania because he has to be the center of attention

Well. That wasn't the worst Royal Rumble Match ever. Because last year still happened.

I hate WWE, at this point. Brock Lesnar was DOMINATING the Wyatt Family, and Braun Strowman's fat fucking ass had to be annoying and take down Brock along with the whole Wyatt Family.

ROYAL STUMBLE 2016aren't I funny
Chex Mix was their big sponsor, so you knew this was going to be good.
I am feeling buzzed, but maybe more thanks to that last match, so let's see how far I get.
Putting this in code because it's longer than expected.

PRESHOW GIGGLES:
Mark Henry and Jack Swagger vs Darren Young and Damien Sandow vs The Dudley Boyz vs The Ascension - match/10. 101 WAYS TO BURY THE TAG DIVISION
Sandow was the only positive. Everyone else sucked. BUT HEY, Henry and Swagger won, so...the crowd wins too or...or something.

THE REAL STUFF:
Dean Ambrose vs Kevin Owens (Last Man Standing but you don't really have to be standing) (Intercontinental Championship) - 4/5. GOOD START TO THE YEAR
The best match of the night due to the combined performance of Dean and Kevin, WWE execs are not capable of putting together something this good. The back and forth nature with the weapons was impressive, and Owens looked strong despite the loss. Ambrose deserved to win, made sense that he keep the belt, though it did feel like Owens was doing most of the work. Match of the year already?

The New Day vs. The Usos (Tag Team Championship) - 2/5. IT'S ALL DOWNHILL FROM HERE
Eventually the WWE has to find another tag team to hold the belts, right? This is getting really old, I stopped caring about The New Day a long ass time ago, as did a lot of people, and most people want to see someone else win. Do something fun or interesting with the Usos or let them go, this is a waste. They deserve so much better. Half this roster deserves better.

Alberto Del Rio vs Kalisto (Mexico Championship) - 2/5. WEIRD, IT'S LIKE NOBODY CARES ABOUT THE BELT
Half of Botchamania is going to be this match. Strange, because these two have had good matches, but here they look out of sync and kept stumbling out of place and missed obvious spots. Not to say they didn't look good at times here, but they messed up spots, and it's glaring. Maybe Kalisto holds the belt for more than a week?

Charlotte vs Becky Lynch (Divas Butterfly thing) - PEE/BREAK. BROUGHT TO YOU BY CHEX MIX
I saw a fight reel for this that made it feel like it would be a huge brawl with a lot of big spots and might be a good divas match worth watching, and then it turned out to be something you'd see on a so-so RAW. All anyone is gonna take away from this match is Ric Flair kissed Becky Lynch and it was creepy, which sucks, cause Lynch looked strong I guess. Let's go with that, I watched a small highlight.

Royal Rumble Match - 2.5/5. IF I DRINK ENOUGH, MAYBE I CAN FORGET THIS EVER HAPPENED
I'll put a TL;DR at the end, but for now, let's get into it. People are going to say this was good. They're going to say that WWE made smart moves with setting up rivalries and maybe some of what they did was fine. However you can't ignore the shit and slap a positive label on the whole match and say "YEAH THAT WAS PERFECT, GREAT JOB". They did the same thing last year, y'know the one that was basically the worst Royal Rumble of all-time?

You know why the fans cheered when Triple H won, when Roman was eliminated? CAUSE REIGNS IS BORING AS FUCK. He's bad in the ring, bad on the mic, and you don't do anything interesting with him. You're at a point where you just hand the title to literally anybody and the crowd pop is gigantic. That was the most predictable ending possible, something crowds hate, and they fucking loved it.

Ok so, let's start from the beginning. Roman Reigns, Mr. I'm Strong and I Enter From the Stands even though S.H.I.E.L.D. is dead and the gimmick doesn't work anymore if the group is dead you fucking twat, is #1 because muh championship, and #2 is Rusev. So right away, I think 30 seconds in Rusev go bye bye, hit ground like bulgarian boulder. NEXT.

AJ Styles looked awesome, but I wish he had entered later on for a bigger pop (late entries always get bigger pops). Still, lasted a long time, did good. Brock Lesnar looked strong, should have won or been near the end, instead gets eliminated in a dumb way to set up a rivalry with the Wyatts because WWE needs someone to fight them I guess. Or whatever. The Wyatts did look strong, so that was good. Kofi Kingston did the thing where he goes over the rope but doesn't get eliminated again, before you ask no it wasn't that clever and yes it's getting very old but someone out there likes it I guess. Chris Jericho was in there forever, I swear he did some stuff, and then he sat in the corner for half an hour to collect a paycheck. Seeing Zayn and Owens brawl was pretty great, albeit short. Speaking of short, Mark Henry and Jack Swagger were in this match, but I never saw then enter or get eliminated, so nice job competing guys.

All that fun stuff, all that positivity I just mentioned? Here's where none of it matters anymore, because this will ruin it. Brock getting eliminated ruined the opportunity to set up a scenario late where you would have Lesnar, Ambrose, Sheamus, Reigns, and Triple H. But before we get here, let's discuss how Roman Reigns managed to get here. After all, it's no easy feat starting at #1 and lasting until the end when everyone has entered. Well, normally it wouldn't, but it helps when you leave like halfway and come back at the end. Reigns was attacked by the League of Nations and got the shit kicked out of him and taken to the back, all the while nobody thinks to toss him into the ring and have him eliminated so he can't possibly win and get it over with early on. Doesn't matter now, too late, because he came back, and now he's stronger. Roman does Roman things, punch, punch, other move, elimination, punch. Suddenly, as I pour the last drink, Triple H beats on Reigns one last time and actually eliminates him. Holy crap, someone else will be champ. BUT WHO? Well, you know, but whatever. So between Ambrose and Triple H, a chance to see Ambrose have two belts AND headline Wrestlemania, now that would be incredible. WWE recognizes how incredible that would be, and thus smashes that dream to pieces posthaste by giving Triple H the belt because if there's anyone on this roster that needs it, clearly it's him, he's never held that fucking belt before.

Meanwhile everyone else is left wondering if that actually just happened, Reigns fans (do they exist?) are pissed, Lesnar fans are pissed, I guess everyone else is satisfied especially AJ Styles fans, but for the most part, this is stupid. You just took the belt away from a heel that nobody likes, and clearly it's nobody if you pay attention to any crowd, and gave it to another heel that is hated not nearly as much but can't really move all that much in the ring. I see we've learned a lot after TLC, which is to say not at all.

TL;DR

I was thinking they would do Strowman VS Lesnar. They kind of teased it at the Rumble and with the Wyatt family consistently going after Brock, it makes sense.

I would like to see either Kevin Owens VS Taker or John Cena VS Taker.

Brock/Reigns/Ambrose at FastLane? More like Brock/Reigns for the right to pin Ambrose. Because if there's one thing Reigns needed, it was to go over Ambrose! Because that's never happened before!

PLEASE GOD BE A WORK

I took a guess at what I think the final card will look like for Fastlane. I'm assuming it's going to be a shit show, my only hope is that the build from here to Wrestlemania is good. I want to believe.

Preshow: throw a bunch of people into a tag match, usually good for 8-10 minutes
1) Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks vs. Naomi and Tamina - Tag match
2) Kalisto vs. Alberto Del Rio - United States Championship
3) AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho - "Who Has The Better Hair" match
4) The New Day vs The Usos - WWE Tag Team Championship
5) Charlotte vs. Brie Bella - Divas Championship
6) Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler - Welcome to Sunday Night RAW
7) Dean Ambrose vs. Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar - Triple Threat Match to determine #1 contender for WWE Championship

and then uh...Roman wins the title at Wrestlemania I guess.

Fastlane 2016, alternate title: The PPV Before Wrestlemania, So The Crowd Decided To Not Give A Single Solidary Shit About The Matches Because They Already Knew Reigns Was Going To Win And Had No Reason To Get Emotionally Invested At All.

For a change, I did this while the show was airing. I'm still not paying for this crap.

Preshow: Kalisto vs Alberto Del Rio (Ameri-Mexi Belt)- 2/5 BELT BURIAL
This is what happens when you force the same goddamn match over and over and over and over and expect it to be well received. Best of three falls, blah blah blah 15 minutes preshow. Most likely rematch at Wrestlemania, please no.

Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks vs Team B.A.D. (Naomi and Tamina) - 2/5 THE CROWD GOES MILD
Normally the first match is supposed to hype up the crowd, but alright. Crowd was so dead I could literally hear every spot being called by the divas. Not a bad match, but nothing stands out. Sasha is the best of the four, which may or may not say something about those in the match. Tamina looks better, I still don't like the rear end move, it's dumb. Sasha deserves better.

Kevin Owens vs Dolph Ziggler (Midcard Fo' Lyfe Title)- 3/5 THE ONLY ONES THAT CARE
Continuing the trend of rivalries that need to stop because the momentum wore off a long time ago.
This one took a while to warm up, but once it did, pretty enjoyable. Fair amount of spots that have been done too much on TV, but the last few minutes had some great outside spots and kept it feeling fresh. Hopefully this is the last one between them for a while, because this is getting old.

Beeg Show, Old Kane and Bane (J.O.B. Squad) vs. Duck Dynasty - 1/5 I JUST GOTTA KNOW WHY
The visual equivalent of chugging dark whiskey from a 2 litre bottle. Or it was until the next match, which made this look like a 4 star match. Big Show and Kane need to retire. Strowman is really green and needs more training. Also he is boring.

Ric Flair's Daughter infintely living in her father's past glory vs Brie Bella riding high off the emotions of her husband's retirement (Bejeweled Blitz Championship) - 0/5 NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Holy shit that championship belt looks worse every time I see it. I wasn't expecting much, but that was awful. They stumbled through that match. Spots were sloppy, boring, and generally the match itself just felt really slow.
Just because it's the PPV before Wrestlemania doesn't mean you get an excuse to be shit.
Brie gets the belt at Wrestlemania because MUH HUSBAND.

AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho - 3.5/5 THIS WAS ALSO GOOD, THESE GUYS ALSO CARE, MORE OF THIS
There was no way these two could put on anything but a good performance.
Great technical spots, loved the use of what seemed like every submission hold they had at their disposal.
That's about it. It was really good.

Curtis Axel vs R-Truth - 2.5/5 I'M NOT REALLY SURE WHAT JUST HAPPENED
Literally a filler match that they put together either to lengthen the PPV or to give them time to prep for the last match.
Maybe they need to get Reigns ready for when he wins or something. Because he's going to win.
Reigns is going to win the main event, and there's nothing we can do to stop it. It's like falling onto a train track, and you see the train coming, and even though it's a horrible situation, you just sit there and accept it.

Dean Ambrose vs Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar - 2/5 YOU KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN
Lot of suplexes from Lesnar early on, but the 2-on-1 from Reigns/Ambrose took its toll. They put Lesnar through the announce tables twice, buried him, and made it pretty clear that they wanted no part of him. Ambrose had the early advantage over Reigns, stayed pretty consistent until Lesnar came out of fucking nowhere and landed a DOUBLE SUPLEX. But then Reigns hit him with a spear. And then Brock almost broke his arm, but started to break out of it by lifting up Brock YES VINCE WE GET IT HE IS STRONG FUCK OFF. Then Ambrose hit them both with a chair, specifically hitting Reigns IN THE ARM. Then Reigns landed a spear even though he just got the shit beat out of him 5 seconds ago and won. Holy shit are you serious, that's the end of the match?
I think I rated this higher than it deserves, that finish was awful.

I actually gave the Filler match a higher rating, incredible. These are the times I think about not watching WWE anymore but then I realize if I did, I wouldn't have anything to use as a comparison to stuff like CHIKARA or PWG or ROH, promotions that are good at what they do.
