Translating that to today's market, using the same cabinet, it would now come out to cost about $16500/£11100/€15500.
Still considerably expensive, but definitely thousands less, which then brings up the question, how much does it cost to make one of the new white cabinets, considering the stripped out the excess lights, and the lighting of the panels, and reduced the size of the speakers, it should be less, yet I can't find anything on the price of a white cabinet in japan.
And second, considering that many arcades have older machines mostly in the 573 era, with a few python 2 and x-era ones...though the x-era ones are probably beyond help at this rate. Why doesn't Konami offer hardware upgrades to the older machines in the US like they do in Japan? I've grown very doubtful about Konami saying they couldn't for the US market.
And as far as I've looked for the AAMA, I still don't see anything for Konami.

Used white cabinets seem to be going for around $10k shipped to CA; few machines are available, though.
As for upgrades, beatsgo is right about legacy hardware. Realize that every black cabinets (573-based mixes) is now over 10 years old. Many are close to 16. The boards/cabling/etc in these machines are going to start dying, and it's hard to find replacement parts. They probably also think that anyone who is running an older cabinet is probably not interested in upgrading anyway.

i love the people that say screw konami yet when round 1 get's to their state they'll forgive them because they're on official eamuse
other countries have a right to say screw konami though because they're basically sol

I say wait until e-Amusement Global is up next week to see if they're actually adding e-Amuse support outside of East Asia. If they don't, then feel free to e-mail Konami pictures of your middle fingers.

if they actually bring e-amuse over here it'll be a nice surprise but don't expect it, we've found a lot of reasons why they wouldn't do it ourselves

It's just too early to say what's gonna happen; It's looking like that if it's really happening, people who have an existing eAmuse account (like myself) will have to A. Get a new account (that's the best case scenario if the big picture is that they are going to make a localized version of IIDX/DDR, even if it's only for the R1 locations). or B. Lie out of our asses and say we're still from Japan in order to still be able to play those games, because I don't know if/think they are gonna change the game(s) just to accompany the American players who can go to those arcades. >>

couldnt konami run a service for north and south america online, where you can play from the PC, and also against players using the arcade machine, globally, and charged a fixed amount for the online service registration"? since arcade machines are basically PC's now, konami could offer prepaid cards (ex-like playstation network) which you can buy in major stores, which would add credits to the account to play popular arcade games, therefore reducing pirated games on PC's, and creating revenue for konami, and all thats needed is a team to translate the program and run the global servers.

The provlem is that the bemani games use a diffrent special type of PC designed for bemani games. This PC is diffrent from normal ones. And also, music games arent very popular except for Just Dance.

you can definitely run bemani games on normal computers.

Never mind. I still feel like Konami doesnt wanna relase BEMANI games outside of Asia becuase of marketing. They rather relase a new soccer game or Yu-gi-oh over BEMANI stuff in the usa.
Btw Im not sure how Bemani PCs work.

Agreed, and I'm witness to that as well. Bemani games that ran here in the US are all setup on regular computers.

inside bemani machines is a normal PC with specific processors, RAM, etc. the game is installed on the PC and it runs like you would any normal computer program. the PCs even run windows. i've seen games like pop'n music starting up at arcades, it just autoruns a program
your PC could probably even be a good bemani PC

there is a lot of business issues behind it. songs have to be licensed for each country separately, often at increased cost. brand names have to be copyrighted, the game has to be localized, distributors have to be contracted, local manufacturers have to be engaged OR konami has to ship machines from japan at extreme cost. different countries have different laws regarding manufacturing, too (this is why EU didn't get SuperNOVA2; regulations regarding the amount of (i think) lead that can be sold prevented Python 2 board from being marketed any further in EU
it's a huge pain and time/money sink to make the games possible to be played. it's not just as simple as chucking a hard drive across the ocean

Bingo!
I think the opposite of Konami, I think they do want to bring their Bemani series games outside of Japan. Hell they even tested SuperNova 2 and beatmania IIDX GOLD in the US since there's an interest here. It's just as what ranatalus said, the business aspect is what's holding back Konami from doing what they want to do: take over the world.

Of course it's real, but whether they are expanding the actual eAMUSE service for arcade operators out to other territories is another story.
