What if it's a fairly recent cover of a song that gave you nostalgia?
That is ok, as are remixes.

As long as you say you want in, PandemoniumX should add you to the category so you can put in your own songs.
EDIT: It's at the top of the first post, if that's what you're wondering.

I have some potential songs, but the problem is that a few of them are just over the 2 minute 30 second limit...at like 2:32 or 2:33
Is there any leniency for this rule? (Still new to this)

Oh man, I have so many ideas for what to step for this category. Great idea! Now I just have to figure out which one I want to step.
To be safe I would try to cut the song. I can help with that if you'd like.

Independent Women Part I / Destiny's Child
BPM: 98
習1 楽2 踊 4 激7 鬼-
Download
This song is nostalgic for me because when I was younger I used to listen to Destiny's Child a lot. Also, my brother and I used to watch the Charlie's Angels movie all the time on DVD because we didn't have cable.
I'm not sure about

YES. If the song selections continue to be anything like this, nostalgia is gonna hit me like a bullet train. I can't wait to see how this round turns out.

Breathless - The Corrs
BPM: 127
Length: 1:45
S:

Doubles will be included in final ER release.
This song brings back so many memories of growing up. My dad actually hooked me onto the Corrs when I was maybe 6 years old and it ended up being a tossup between this and Runaway off their first album. I do believe there was an almighty mix for this somewhere, but I figured the original would be best for this theme. Good luck to everyone else, and I hope this doesn't get laughed right out the door. Finally: it is been a while since I finished off a whole set in less than a day. Thanks for the theme idea, GariK+!

Ridge Racer / Shinji Hosoe
BPM: 140
1
4
8
9
Nostalgia Part: This song, Ridge Racer, is from Taiko Drum Master, a game that I always used to play at my cousins house beginning when I was probably 6 or 7 or something. It was a Christmas present from probably at least 6-7 years ago. It was one of my first music games, and after not playing the game for a couple of years, I would hear songs from the game or just remember them all of the sudden and then start to think about how fun the game was to play. I now have the game at my house now so I can still play the game that I loved when I was younger (I'm only 14).

APPEND: Whoops. This should've been posted hours ago, but I forgot to click "Post New Reply" before I turned off my computer.

3. Songs are required to be less than two minutes and thirty seconds, unless otherwise stated.
Are we talking mp3/ogg wise, or chart wise ?
Cause I already had to perform an horrible cut and it's still 2:45 long, but my chart would stop at 2:30.
Cutting twice would probably result in a disaster sooo....
#audacity skills to the max

The song itself must be less than 2:30.

Just do a fadeout, it makes no sense to leave in parts of the song that have no steps.
Minor update for my file's graphics.

There's just 15 seconds of outro, I can cut like 5 seconds or so, but cutting even earlier would stop the song abrubtely as you don't directly go to the results screen.
Doing a fadeout would still leave me with a 2:45 song, cutting the song feel wrong, stopping the chart prematurely feels dumb.
2:30 is actually kinda short when you don't step bemani-formatted stuff
I understand no one wants to see 6min+ charts though...
(plot twist, next week's theme is marathon week)
I'll see what I can do
EDIT : did a better cut, song is 2:28 now

I definitely suggest using Sony ACID (be it Pro or Music Studio). It accurately analyzes the BPM of a song and you can edit a song by the note, as in as small as 64th note triplets. It's awesome.
After using Sony ACID Pro, cutting songs in Audacity was entirely too tedious for me to deal with.

That does sound neat, i'll definitely take a look a this, Thanks !
Yeah, editing with audacity is kina tedious, but the years spent playing rhythms games definitely helped

Dança da Manivela
Axé Bahia

Just had some fun with this one, oh god I might regret my song choice later though

Nostalgia: Well this is the first summer I won't be able to visit my family back in Brazil like I do every year due to the ridiculous ticket prices bc of the world cup so yea, tunes like this one definitely bring back some nostalgia.
