BPM preview was introduced in Sunny Park :v
Also, I strongly doubt Lapistoria was that big of a financial disaster even if it wasn't generally well-liked.

...they've thrown every clique out of the barrel for this game as an attempt to catch up more players after Sunny Park, meaning that if this version will ultimately result a commercial failure (and it my eyes it WAS, and A LOT), the pop'n franchise as a whole risks to get booted off. Permanently.
mind explaining how Lapistoria is a commercial failure?
i doubt they'd kill pop'n anyway since you see how they still keep FTT afloat. they wouldn't allow something as big as pop'n die just like that.

@Silver Spirit: I'm already aware of that, but I do believe that scrolling multiplier increments of x0.1 were added on Lapistoria, aside of a lot of other minor preview customize stuff on top of the other things introduced by sunny park, so here's that.
@Silverhawke: Obviously I can't prove that; this is just a grim feeling that I got a few years back. While writing for a Taiko no Tatsujin-related blog, I and the other editors came across some scans from a publication listing 2013's most profitable arcades in Japan; in the top 15 list, sunny park was on the 13th place, being the second worst performing Bemani game after Sound Voltex II, which ranked at 15th. Sadly these scans aren't online anymore, so I can't attest to you what I'm saying as of now...
After what I've heard in the past of TUNE STREET and fantasia being more played in Japan, I'm afraid that the lower play rate on sunny park may have convinced the staff to stuff the next one with a theme capable of gathering a more casual audience... with all the bad stuff that came on as a consequence. Look, the whole Anime-styled character art wasn't that bad, but in order to pursue that style they made nearly EVERY SINGLE NEW ORIGINAL SONG as if it can be used as an opening theme from an actual Anime, which on the longer run makes me feel those songs really bland and forgettable (I'm not a huge fan of Anime opening themes'style, anyway- it's every time the same style/song structure for almost every Japanese show in existence, save for notable exceptions). Even the most... uuh... "regular sounding" tracks felt quite lackluster; I'm not kidding when I say that I'm going to remember Lapistoria for just one song I really like, with the rest ranging for me from meh to garbage.
There's also a slew of minor stuff making some of the new changes unbearable, in order to please better the Anime theme, that is to say: no more song genres (and as such, no song series from the past can be ever considered continued, even while featuring past characters), no more custom 'Miss' backdrops of any sorts (both for LP and the past songs) and little to no actual non-human pop'n characters either debuting or coming back for Lapistoria in order to please the Anime fan fest of one of the most cliqued of themes in Anime history. Oh, and high focus again on the Tsugidoka deity-like guys, because they need to plug their Fantastic 4 so hard since sunny park for some really odd reason...
I truly felt betrayed by this whole debacle of a game, but I hope this won't be the series' death knell as well.

Is Pop'n really flopping that hard commercially?
Sigh. I really like this franchise and I hope Konami won't axe it
