Crap you just reminded me. I was 5 when I first got DDRMAX for PS2, and I could never bring myself to play Let The Beat Hit Em! (Classic R&B Style) because the background scared me.
Do not look up XANADU's Background picture. Wink

Or the bg for the original Let the beat hit em!, for that matter.

When I was thirteen, I went to Dave and Buster's playing on the DDR X2 cabinet and selected PlutoHeavy and got an FC. I looked at the guy and he looked at me with wide eyes and he turned red. It was hilarious!

For reasons I will never understand, that one never scared me (considering it's basically the same as the BM IIDX version). I anticipated it being scary when I decided to play it, then I played it and was like "...whatever" but still felt scared of the R&B one.

As for Xanadu, IDK or remember if that was on any US mixes but if it was I never played it. The first time I ever saw that background must've been around age 10 or 11 or something, at least a year or so after starting Stepmania and by that time, I had already seen the horrors of many Stepmania bg arts (whether it be gory, spooky, jump-scary, slight pedophiliac, furry, a combination of any of those or just plain ugly).

Bruh, I started playing DDR at six.

Anyway, I also remember that one time where I was playing Saber WingHeavy with my 17 year old cousin. I didn't know how to properly do crossovers and we were on tile with third-party mats. While he did crossovers properly I hit the left with my left foot and all the others with my right. Needless to say I slipped and fell on his leg and he tripped and fell as well. Blushing

Despite the fact I just got burned, I want to find out how you did that.

EDIT: Never mind. Alright, you didn't have to be that rude man. If you don't believe me that's fine by me. Sorry if I sounded like an ass.

Yeah, I started playing DDR around 4, and I don't doubt that many, many other players out there started at a rather young age. It's not exactly the least kid-friendly game, and it gave us (or me) an excuse to not go outside since it was better for you than controller games.

Thanks rayword45. I understand now. Sorry about the whole "oh I'm cool I started at 6" thing. Anyway, let's get back on topic!

The first time I Played DDR X2 (EU) I accidentally selected happy mode, and had to play through four very long, painful, slow songs that I couldn't even hit properly because the damn machine was offsync. grrrr.

I don't think I posted anything in here yet, so here goes...

I was freestyling or doing something tricky on a 5th Mix and I tripped and fell on the pad. I didn't hurt myself but I got enough misses to fail the song I was playing. That's all I can think of at the moment.

A few weeks ago I was playing X2 at Dave & Busters. I head back to the machine and there's a group of about 5 guys and a girl gathered around the machine. The guy got off the pad in disgust after playing the girl in a song and said the game was "Japanese shit." After a few minutes they recognize me waiting and they want me to play them. A different guy plays me and decided he was cocky enough to play Mars Wars 3 Heavy against me. Midway through the song I get a miss and I look down to see he's hitting my arrows. I had enough, swore under my breath, and immediately took my things and left the place. I took a long walk around a hotel resort across the street hoping they'd clear out. They did once I returned, and luckily they didn't take the game card I left there.

tl;dr Guy gets me mad enough to leave the arcade because he messed me up in DDR

Not exactly embarrassing, I'd be pretty fucking annoyed too.

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

The top half of my body kept going and the bottom half stopped on Jane Jana double back in the day. I tumbled off the side of the machine into the lap of one of the guys watching. I managed not to fail though!

I've dealt with basically the same situation countless times, so I definitely feel your pain.

I tend to get a little abrasive by just making them feeling stupid via sarcasm but I realize that not everyone deals with things the same way I do, haha. Just try to brush it off as much as possible whenever it happens.

Back in 3rdMIX, I played Wonderland in SSR mode as my first song, failed about 20 seconds into the song because I messed up the crossovers.

This was in front of a crowd, and one guy went "ooo..." in sympathy.
