What do you think a 20 in DDR X will be like?

I think this would happen:

A song going 100 bpm with extreme 1/32 arrows.

How I predict this would be, a 19 would probably be an uber-slow song (25-50 bpm), with arrows that are very hard to read. And the 20 will be that songs remix, that goes from super slow to super fast (38-600 bpm), and at the 600 bpm sections, there will be 8th note clusters.

a 20 footer on DDR X would be Mei. Enough said. =p

Oh dear god, I don't even want to know what Mei would look like as a DDR song. The Beginner would be a 12!

If there's going to be a 20, it's going to be the end run of Pluto Relinquish, but last 1 min 45 sec instead of like 15 sec.
Or maybe a song that has its entire step chart in one measure, so that even on x8 it's still like reading bag.
Lol. I would die laughing if there were actually a song like that.

I now think that a lot of people, including me, were thinking a little too highly of what a 20 would look like really. If you look at the gap of difficulty between levels, a song really doesn't have to be that much harder than an 18 to qualify as a 20. It doesn't have to be Mei or anything like that.

Also, yay, it took me almost a year to reach 500 posts. I should be in the K post club in no time! Happy

Eggmans One More Lovely is what I see as a good 20 Big Grin Or maybe Dizzy from Mungyodance... something like that!

Although with the current trent Konami seems to be following I'm sure instead of good charts like those we'll be seeing some mix of Dead End Groove Radar steps feat Chaos stops and shock arrows. Sigh.
Coming soon...

Not every song has to be an 18. Sure it's not really an 8, but that doesn't mean it sucks. Trying to make an 18 out of a song that's obviously not is like trying to cook a chicken so it tastes like fish. It doesn't work. And if it does work (without drugs) then there's a Nobel Prize due somewhere.
What I consider fun would be in the 10-15 range. Anything higher, I'm not sure, especially with the way Konami has written charts for boss songs recently. Not that the X boss songs are bad, but their idea of difficult is more stuff like Horatio Challenge and Saber Wing Challenge. Oops

I don't think a 20 is going to be Max Something, but rather a really technical chart with "mash" mix ups. When I first saw Trip Machine Phoenix as the OMES in SN2 I was really excited to see DDR straying away from Fascination Mash and rather doing charts that were difficult from a technical standpoint. But then there were the gimmicks found in Chaos and Pluto Relinquish (BMP changes and whatnot). If a 20 did surface, I think it'd be a sad combination of mashing, "gotcha" slow downs, and shock arrows. *sigh* Shock arrows... such a failure...
Take care and be safe!

Songs that I find fun: (Singles) OTBreak Heavy, Saber Wing rmx Heavy, Dance Celebration rmx Heavy, Pluto Heavy/Challenge, S•A•G•A Heavy, Soul Crash Heavy, Venus Challenge, Uranus Challenge, Waiting 4 U Heavy, and Why Not Heavy. There's also my edits, but those are just dumb! XD

Shades of Grey is bloody retarded. A slow song with (almost) nothing but 4ths on Heavy rated an 8 shouldn't exist. That song has no challenge whatsoever, especially with the up-right jumps at the beginning. This song is easier than, say, BRILLIANT 2U (K.O.G G3 Mix).

Yes, I chose a song of similar speed to prove my point.

Of course, my most played song on Extreme 2 is "Inside Your Heart". I like the easier charts because you can use them as a break song, if you will, and still enjoy playing.
I never said it had to be an 18. I made the point because a song like Shades of Grey, specifically its Heavy chart, didn't deserve such a very misleading rating (at the time). With DDR X out, it has the rating it rightly deserves (same with Venus on all difficulties). I'm actually surprised Venus got an Challenge chart, maybe to make up for the somewhat challenging Heavy chart. I was hoping Shades of Grey would've gotten similar treatment.

You're all putting too much thought into this.

It's going to be something like PARANOiA HADES with shock arrows. The shock arrows are going to come during a slow section to make you strain your eyes to figure out what to step on and what will end your play in the next second.

In other words, the shock arrows are making the 20, not so much the steps. Anything faster than 400 BPM 8th notes is complete crap anyway, no matter how much the steps "make sense."

Then again, I could be wrong.
I'd agree with you on that one. I also think they'd toss in shock arrows during the fast bits because they'd be tough to dodge at high speeds. (I had problems dodging them in Waiting For UChallenge :p)

Hmm.. Makes me think of something like bag with shock arrows. And they'll probably force you to play it on 1x speed.

I Dont think there will be a 20, they never said the scale goes up to 20 and as it currently stands we have a small stack of 18's to play with and hardly any 17's, if i worked it out right anyway. We will probably get more of the same difficulty however chances are we'll end up with god awful shock arrow charts like Horatio challenge which was a good concept only the shock arrow window is far too large for it to be physically possible.

I personally don't think there will be any 20's on DDRX with the honour reserved for a later mix... As for what it might look like, is everyone familiar with Epileptic Crisis from ITG rebirth? Shocked

And Dream to Nightmare for 19? or would that be 18 or 17. I've memorized the stops, so really, I can't tell.

The Dream to Nightmare chart isn't particularly hard, but the stops are very annoying especially if you haven't played the chart with Cmods before. Dead

"o_O?"
Dream to Nightmare Survivor (aka Epileptic Crisis) is hard for the sake of hard. If it was official and people didn't start complaining immediately, I call shenanigans.

Musically, I like it for the first 10 seconds or so then my ears start bleeding. 12th notes at 380 BPM, 7959065090975 stops and BPM changes, and 1/100th second stops aren't fun. They are annoying. Much, much more annoying then Trigger and CHAOS combined.

Dream to Nightmare is way better but still somewhat annoying. I can enjoy that on a good day. I'd call that a 16 or 17.

The Heavens! The Earth! And a million squirrels call to me! Huh? What...they don't?

Strangely enough, Horatio Challenge is rated a 15, even though it's just as hard, if not harder, than Trigger Oni. Neutral
