You guys can use what you want, but if it doesn't show up correctly for someone who uses SM5, which will be a lot of people, then it kind of defeats the point of you guys wasting your time to show it to people in the first place.
So yes, I can't monitor you making a simfile, nor do I want to watch you make a simfile, so use what you wish.
This is more of a "reader beware" kind of thing.

Important questions:
What is included under the "gimmick " label? Do speed changes count?
Also what the heck does "25% gimmicks" even mean? How do you measure 25% in terms of gimmicks?
Answers are appreciated.

IMO, I think a good measure for "25% gimmicks" is about 25% of the measures of the song must have at least one gimmick (speed change, pause, etc), but they can be condensed in a small area if you want.
E.g. a song with 78 measures and 24 stops spread throughout the song will have a "gimmick density" of 31%, so it'd be eligible for this week regardless of where those stops are placed.
So the formula is:
(number of gimmicks) / (number of measures from the first to last arrow) * 100

Hi.
Just wanted to let you all know that my "!! DISASTER" file is on its way. I gotta stand out from the other files this week, and if it means getting 0 points, then fuck it. c;
I plan on getting two submissions this week anyway so...
No, the title is not actually "!! DISASTER". It just sums the challenge chart as a whole.

I'll still finish my collab with usaminseijin (it's some SSH stuff ;) ) and if gimmicks are this week's theme, I have a wip that's perfect for this.

[Gimmick Week]
Btw, where is the responsable of this mess a.k.a Benpai?
Haha sorry about all of this, I didn't realize that using different systems would affect the way you see the chart.
UHMM trying to think about how to word this....
@mf32892 I also had an issue about how to correctly calculate the percentage of gimmicks/mods that the song has. I would certainly say that Astroman129's suggestion is the best course of action.
For those who don't use SM5 (which apparently is a small, but considerable fraction of the competitors), if by chance another competitor cannot see the chart from their computer, then...
I feel like I'm responsible for this, so maybe I can help convert to a chart that can be read with SM5.
Either that OR http://www.stepmania.com/download/
One stutter, one wave, at the least, man. If the 1.5 and 0.75 bpm changes are close enough that they make reading more difficult, then that's okay.

Quick guys, throw in 1.5x speedups / 0.75x slowdowns! Don't worry about stutters and waves, just do this in a more intense/less intense part of the song and call it a day!

I came from the future and Gameoson gonna win this

If this post is referring to this being Gimmicks Week, don't get your hopes up. I exhausted all of my good gimmick songs on previous submissions.

I mean technically I could step some Reizoko Cj but I'd rather not step another 19 for this.

@Benpai @Astroman129
Thanks for the clarification.
@Benpai
Still want to know your thoughts on what specifically classifies as a "gimmick". It seems clear that you need at least one stutter or wave gimmick. Do other speed changes (I.e. long half or double BPM changes) count towards the 25%? Apparently some people don't consider speed changes to be "gimmicks".
Thanks for the clarification.

Question: if I put a ton of only stops scattered on a simfile (but not to CHAOS level of stops) would that still count for this week's theme?

@mf32892
I'm not a gimmick master, so bear with me if I don't know how to properly explain or fail to mention some things in the realm of gimmicks.
So what I consider as a gimmick is either of these:
1. Wave gimmicks involve just BPM changes within usually one measure, creating the swoosh or slowdown.
2. Stutters involve using stop values and BPM changes over a period of time.
3. Stops by themselves are allowed to be part of the gimmicks; however, it won't really count for much in the song by itself if used rarely, since the requirement is 25% of the song.
Quote
Question: if I put a ton of only stops scattered on a simfile (but not to CHAOS level of stops) would that still count for this week's theme?
Well other than the fact that you have to put at least one stutter and one wave gimmick somewhere in the chart, putting a ton of stops scattered will be fine to count as part of the 25%.4. LUA mods, any mods really are okay for me. I'd say that when used tastefully, the chart comes out well (likewise with gimmicks, use tastefully, unlike my chart Longin 4 U, that was a disaster)
5. Gradual speedups or slowdowns. e.g. BPM goes from 140-150 over many measures
Long half/double BPM changes are in a gray area because although they are changes in BPM, they don't require too much effort to figure out how to implement them. In previous charts in the contest, I've seen those plenty of times but in my eyes I didn't see them as a gimmick but more of a stylistic choice. So I'd say NO to long half/double BPM changes.
However, like I said, if the half and double BPM changes are used in succession together, it creates a more unpredictable speedup-slowdown motion to the chart, which I would consider a gimmick in itself.
Hope that clears some things up. Sorry about the ambiguity of the theme, if I could go back and change the theme knowing that this would occur, I would

...welp. I don't think my disaster file qualifies after all then. D: (It could probably be a good thing that it won't show up because... it's wacky, but I really want to submit it and see how people react...)
But that's okay, I still have something else for this week, and then another idea that happened to be unstepped in Shuffle. I'll get one of those by probably Tuesday-Wednesdayish.

Too bad I released my file for TEKNOPATHETIC two years ago, This would have been perfect with all its stops and BPM changes.
As a person that doesn't really use "gimmicks" with BPMs and Stops much, this is gonna be a helluva challenge. I hope I can submit at least one.
