If only they had added shock arrows to DEAD END GRS, it would be a contender for "most laughable piece of trash DDR song ever" along with Pluto The First.

Oh well, looking forward to seeing roppongi EVOLVED's chart. KIMONO PRINCESS is all right, feels like the difficulty is a little forced, can't really say until I hear it full on, but I wasn't feeling the assaults of 16ths. But, at least it's playable. Maybe it'll grow on me after playing it a bit.

Well, I can say that out of the seven stepchart creators credited in the X2 ending, only two of them were writers for HP2. And that's possibly simply because of Japan Wii stuff included.

Nobody should be disappointed with Pluto the First's chart. They weren't obligated to change it because we hate it (Dead End GRS doesn't get changed). That is the heavy chart, however crappy it may be. The oni chart should just not exist. The hate for it is totally warranted.

If only the game linked the stepchart editors to their charts. It's an extremely minor detail, but still...

Shock arrows I can see being a good addition, but when you put them in complete random parts and are just there for difficulty, it makes it look like a 5 year old made the chart.

That would explain a lot about recent DDR charts.
Either that, or people who are seriously over worked and have no time to give charts a second look. Let's see, 60 songs, 8 charts per song, that means roughly 68.5 charts per person. That doesn't adjust for the relative difficulties of stepping for the different difficulties though, so it's wildly inaccurate. So, let's say that a chart is one difficulty point for stepping, is 2, is 3, is 4, and doubles charts are twice as hard as their singles counterparts. would be 6 or 7 if they actually made a significant number of unique charts.
That comes to 240 difficulty points of stepping per person, or the equivalent of each person making ~30 charts. These all need to be done in under 10 months, and doesn't count the partial charts that get tossed when a song ends up not being included or ends up with a drastically different cut halfway through.
Not having sufficient resources to adequately tackle the stepping task would certainly explain the lack of quality.

I thought we had already established a year ago that shock arrow charts were copy-pasted other charts with random shock arrows replacing some arrows. I don't understand why this is news to everyone.

Interesingly enough, looking over all the credits...

Of the 7 stepartists, 2 are from the HP2 team, one is from X team, one is from the X Arcade only team (meaning probably X-Specials and/or Wii Doubles charts), and the other three are unknown. TAG doesn't appear to be writing stepcharts anymore.

The only store open in Florida at this time is Wal-Mart...and that isn't close to my house...so DDR X2 will have to wait till sunset or so until it sees play from me.
