It's great that you point at these two out of all the other Challenge charts that exist.
i think the point here is that not every song needs an ultra hard Challenge chart because we know just how ridiculous things can get and there's no reason for things to be so hard
while yeah you can easily just play an easier difficulty if the need be, that's not an excuse for lackluster chart creation
and knowing how konami operates, we also know just how lackluster things can get
if you want a challenge chart for a tune, there's stepmania
but honestly, it's not always necessary, not always a necessity
especially knowing just where konami is willing to go with their difficulty

They could.
They won't.

If their stepartists could consistently make well-produced Challenge charts, this discussion never happens, but they don't, so it does. Don't add Challenge charts unless it actually adds something to the rest of the file. This isn't a difficult concept to get.

Somehow a song feels fuller and more fleshed out if it has a challenge chart. But part of that is that not all songs have challenge charts. So you're both right Smile

Not every song needs complex 18-footer Challenges.

Only if the song sounds complex enough should it go past a 15, in my opinion.

In this case, DANCE ALL NIGHT should at least have a 13-14 Challenge. HANDS UP IN THE AIR, in my opinion, does not need a Challenge; The Heavy chart was fine, save for the jacks at the end and a double step somewhere in the chart. Really, the specific bone I have to pick with DANCE ALL NIGHT is it's wonky cut made for DDR. I've listened to the extended cut and original Jubeat version many times (note: there's a backbeat clap in the original Jubeat version that doesn't appear in the extended cut!!) and I can say that it just...doesn't connect with the song as well as it should.

Also while I'm opposed in principal to the entire existence of charts as hard as those two charts, I think they're decent give that they are as hard as they are.

Plus put yourself back last year when RDi was still going on. Would you have been satisfied if those songs completely packed challenge charts!? I wouldn't, they added to the experience of the game.

I was just thinking how great it was that BUTTERFLY would become one of the immortal licenses. Guessing the 4 remaining 1st/2nd songs (KUNG FU FIGHTING, Bad Girls, Boom Boom Dollar, and stomp to my beat) won't be safe come 2017.

Ever noticed that despite having a rating system ranging between 1 to 20, there has never been a level 20 chart up to this point? (Although Valkyrie Dimension comes closest)

Also, I think a lot of people are aware of that, given, you know, all four 19's in existence are heavily well-known.

That's why I was excited for Over The Period; it could've been our first 20. I mean, really all they needed to do to make it harder than Valkyrie Dimension was basically throw a full 8th run for the entire 420; and they have a background synth solo that goes full run so they could even claim it's synced to something. And it would've also gotten enough notes to break EGOISM's step count, all at once. I was excited basically until I saw the 420 part.

Though, for a comparison, we got TEN 18's: FAXX, HDV, ParaHades, NGO, PR, Trigger, 888, MEI, Anti-Matter, New Decade, POSSESSION, and only THEN did we get our first 19: Valkyrie Dimension, on Challenge.

Though we did get only one 17 before our first 18, FAXX on Heavy compared to Challenge, and five 16's before the first 17 (MAXX Unlimited, PSMO, CHAOS, ParaRespect, MAX 300 SMMM, followed by FAXX, the first 17/18).

We only have FOUR 19's. So I won't get truly mad until we get another six 19's (if we even get that) and no 20.

TBH OT"P" was surprisingly non-shit for a 19 so i'm kind of glad they didn't try to push it any further

19s are getting better, and even though that's not saying much, at least they're improving

Approximately nobody asked for this song to be included. Least popular decision by the Japanese since Nintendo released the Wii U.

jeez, if they have to do that, at least choose good stuff (i yet have to see some pizuya's cell in BEMANI. considering that pizuya does stuff for hinabitter and pizuya's cell for me is one of the best touhou arrange circles... or some lila'c records. lapix was part of it before he became big and well known and irus isn't that bad.)

...but i still would prefer the animu and j-pop licenses.
