The interface looks like SDVX 3 and REFLEC BEAT VOLZZA had a baby with HAPPY SKY's theme. I like where DDR is going so far (minus the announcer lol). The songs and charts are good, though it baffles me that some character designs didn't change (like Bonnie, Emi, and Baby-Lon) and there are absolutely no cut-ins this time. That's one thing that I don't like, but I'll get used to it.
I wish they revived the rest of the characters, though. I miss seeing Concents, Zukins, PiX, and Rena.

When I saw New Century, Emi's dancing Supernova/Ultramix moves.

And I hope they put new Dancemania licenses regardless if they no longer have a contract with Toshiba.

I'm looking forward to good charts. Saw in Remywiki that right now in Singles Heavy, there aren't any charts lower than 11. Interesting but I seriously doubt it will stay that way.

pros so far;
- new century may not be a new decade remix, but it's still pretty good
- had never heard of star trail before but it's awesome
- default setlist is plentiful
- new judgement fonts are nice, as are the 'ready' and 'here we go' splashes
- it's not as full of EDM garbage as everyone thought it would be (it's just sort of full with EDM garbage)
- ITG style grading is a welcome change

cons so far;
- "the new scoring makes it more accessible to newcomers!" "first extra stage is a 17" pick one
- song select screen is still a fucking mess, i don't care what you say
- whole thing has a feel of stepmania theme, tbh
- i don't personally care for licneses, but it seems that front has disappointed everyone here, and for good reason, because fuck off towhow

- no new announcer, or even going back to the old one would've been better
- bgvideos remain unchanged, let us turn the fucking things off jesus christ
- the "DANGER!!" that appears in the margins of the gameplay screen is completely unnecessary and distracting, simply putting "DANGER!!" on the lifebar would've sufficed

overall, better than what i expected, worse than what i'd hoped, but better than 2013/2014 in any case. keep building the wall, konami

Were there any songs removed?

So far, we know of these: KHAMEN BREAK, Cleopatrysm and 御千手メディテーション (Osenju meditation). Not sure of the reason(s), though.

Do we even know if that user who took the photo unlocked the songs? For all we know, those could've been timed unlocks you couldn't get outside of the event.

Edit: never mind, forgot they became Extra Attack songs.

Night Of Nights!

I feel that the amount of song lists is a bit underwhelming. I would have liked around 70 songs available from the get-go, since it seems that this is supposed to be a new game released as an update with a new name and everything... I guess they'll continue to do updates, unlock systems and crossover events, which I'm not the biggest fan of. Top that off with the mostly unchanged background graphics and the same announcer, this feels like just a new coat of paint accompanied by a batch of songs no larger in quantity than 3rdMIX and a new scoring system.

Oh well, I'll take it anyways, as long as the franchise is still alive, and most importantly, finally coming to America! The changes they made are all great, there are certainly some good songs in there, like The Night Away, Star Trail, Dance All Night, Night of Nights and New Century.

As for the scoring system, it may take some time to get used to them when talking about scores, but I think this one makes more sense. I tend to coach my friends who are getting into the game and working their way up to 5-8 level charts, and I usually find myself telling them to disregard the grades, since I feel that they are too strict and discouraging despite how well they are doing (as beginners). Pro players can just focus on getting AA+, AAA or PFC's. It's no big deal.
