Maybe they should? As far as reviving characters, I would like to see Dread and Janet again (There aren't any 2nd mix characters since SN2; those two are exclusive in 2nd mix mode so, uh, yeah). Also, DDR always have a Concent or Zukin at some point, at least in the main arcades. So it's better if they do become playable again.

Maybe the staff forgot to make the system count GOOD as combo.

This is looking like a pretty good mix! I can't wait to play it, and by that I mean I can't wait until all the songs get simfiles made.

It's kind of disappointing that there are no new stages. I usually don't care about the stages, but if they're just using the same stages from the last game, it doesn't feel like the series turned over a new leaf. Now, regarding characters... I don't care about the characters that much either.

Surely it still uses the same CD Jacket (from HP5)? The CD jacket for Uma Uma Song only says "ウッーウッーウマウマ(ﾟ∀ﾟ)", wheras the song select text box seems to include the "Speedycake Mix" subtitle, so it's possible that there's inconsistancies between the text on the jackets and the on-screen song titles?

Yes, it's a bug. Konmai forgotten to make the announcer counting the GOOD together with PERFECT & MARVELOUS, lol.

Announcer: "I don't like the way where getting GOOD won't break combo. So i reset my combo count everytime the player gets GOOD"

Judging from how we are getting the unlocks, it seems they are trying to get the remainder of the DDR 2010 + DDR II songs that both X2 and X3 did not get. What songs that appeared in both DDR 2010 and II did Japan not get outside of the American licenses? Should give us an insight as to what other songs may be unlocked through ENJOY LEVEL.

Although the inclusion of 'escape' from HP2 was weird, but could signal a lot more revivals from past HP titles, and maybe the off-chance of some more UNIVERSE songs appearing in this game as well.

EDIT: This almost feels like how X3 started in a way, watching previous songs from American DDR CS games become unlocks/appear in the default folder for the current game. Well, buckle down and give it time, for now it seems Japan is just finishing up that section before hitting it off later on in it's life cycle.

I have to say that DDR has a very UNIVERSE vibe to it. The UI background is a video of swirling white dots and lines that looks an awful lot like one of the loading videos from one of the UNIVERSEs. And then the types of artists that the game defaults to like world sequence. Hell, the judgement font feels like UNIVERSE. I'm tentatively holding my breath right now for something... interesting to happen.


This seems to be get-it-out-of-the-way unlocks time. Right now I'm waiting to see if full comboing Monkey Business leads to anything else. In before a jun crossover...

^ Uh, just like in DDR X2 and X3. Never mind...

I love the fact that DDR 2013's new content is already unlocked by default while the ones from CS are the enjoy level unlocks while on DDR X3, the default content is stuff from DDR 2010 and DDR II and DDR X3's new content are unlocked via Enjoy levels.

Also, BEMANIwiki says that Beautiful Dream has a challenge chart level 15.

That was confirmed at JAEPO, but the chart appears to be locked on release. So, we know it exists, but not when or how it will unlock, but likely ENJOY LEVEL unlock.
