Well, here's how I feel about the removal of Kind Lady.
It's not so much about missing the song itself because it's gone, as others have mentioned there's plenty of ways to still access it. There may be something more important at hand here, and it could be the fact that we can, at any time, lose something that made DDR memorable for many players without a clear reason. It's shocking too, since it can't even be the among the most underplayed songs in Asia either. As many of us have mentioned, it received a Challenge chart in DDR last year, and it only made an appearance to DanceEvolution Arcade just recently, only to be gone from that as well. It's thrived for all these years, so why lose it now? Even if it happened to be indeed a song no one cares about anymore (and it's far from it), isn't it better than nothing to have around?
If Kind Lady gets removed, we might just as well eventually lose other songs many players have treasured for years, like something from the PARANOiA or MAX series (as overplayed as those can be sometimes). For sure, not all of us will care, but for every song that has ever been put into DDR, someone out there will. The game just won't feel the same for a lot of us if something like that ever happens. If that is ever the trend, deep inside, some of us might feel that we're losing what was once a good game. That's just what I'm thinking, though.
TL;DR If we could lose Kind Lady, we could lose every other song in the game. I know you like something out there.

It'll eventually happen. Remember the ORIGINAL Dynamite Rave? They did 'renew' it, but we got some weird new Dynamite Rave with new lyrics. In my opinion, that didn't really bode so well with me, I liked the original better.
But it can happen, because most of these songs have a time-frame for licensing in games, including Konami Originals as we've seen. There could be a potential 'rebirth' of the song in the form of a re-licensing with new lyrics and/or new vocalist. Or the song will be kept locked forever....
....forever? Songs CAN be re-licensed, it's not that impossible to keep a song out of a game unless there is no way the artist, vocalist, writer, etc. would be able to bring it back for god knows what. It can be likely the song can be brought back someday, the original one at that, or a new version. We may never know.
I think the popularity of the song determines how much Konami is willing to keep the song alive through the game's versions. I mean damn we still have DDR 1stMIX songs still in DDR 2015, a very few amount but it's still something.
Besides, this is the main reason why you buy the console versions, Konami can't remove songs from a mass-produced console CD/DVD...
...right? (Nah they can't, it would be impossible/madly time consuming to do so lol)

I think I proved a few pages back that the lyrics aren't "licensed". Videos like Dr. D's perpetuate this myth. (Although I like that video!) There is definitely no rights issue. And if somehow there was such a thing as a half-licensed song then it would've been affected long before 14 years.
The only songs that have been remade with new lyrics were all Naoki songs. And Naoki did that because (apparently) he was displeased with his older songs. But yet PYFIM (which uses stock samples) and B4U (which uses the same vocalists as other remade songs) were spared. Did Konami "license" B4U for another year? Or does Naoki maybe think that B4U is good enough that it is untouchable? (Hint: we have a confirmed answer on this one too. Naoki's all time favorite songs are the ones he wrote for DDR 4th Mix.)
I hate to say it, but it was probably Sota who killed Kind Lady. He killed Look to the Sky, which is arguably even more iconic and was in even more Bemani games, so he's clearly not a sentimental person. The good news though is that this is a problem we can actually solve by complaining about it! Since complaining about the BeForU songs cut in X1 brought BreAkdown back, and complaining about tripping contact (multiple times) brought it back too.

Also the BEFORU Songs were removed due to liscening issues unlike other songs in DDR X that were removed (except for naguero who left and Konami had to remove his songs due to contract issues). The BeForU songs were revived after BeForU themselves broke down and went defunct and the record gave back Konami the songs.

Not really, it's just the record saying "fuck it they won't rake in any money when they're not there" and gave Konami the removed songs back because, well, why not?
I don't even see the big deal in all of this. It's Kind Lady, not MAX 300 or Trip Machine. Besides the fact you can play it on older mixes (do any of the people complaining actually have access to 2014?) it's hardly the most iconic song in the franchise.

Well, some people don't have access to older mixes either but want to play older songs, and if they find out one of their favorite is removed, well...I don't even see the big deal in all of this. Plus some console games have sold out and are no longer in production, obviously.

eBay is your friend for PS1-PS2 era DDRs. If not, Stepmania as a last resort.

Forgot about that. Also I don't count Stepmania. I'm talking about OFFICAL games, not simulators. But sure...Post #8072 · Posted at 2015-12-29 06:24:46pm 9.6 years ago

Pretty much this in a nutshell. I'm not understanding all the gripe about Kind Lady being removed. It's a good song yes, maybe even iconic, (And that's a big maybe in my honest opinion) But you guys are really getting worked up over what's essentially nothing. If you really want to play it that bad... then well... it's not exactly that hard to track down copies of the console games on ebay or Amazon.Post #8073 · Posted at 2015-12-29 06:26:03pm 9.6 years ago

We have to wait that long? Well I will definitely be looking forward to this coming summer. Hopefully Round1 gets DDR2014 that soon or even sooner.

The most popular BeForU songs were revived in DDR X2, but not all of them. Also in the same version they cut true...
In that case I agree with SomethingRandom. I think it has to be the sound director. (I still miss HONEY PUNCH and Morning Glory)
By the way, does anyone know why Drivin' was cut in X1? Come on, it's a typical song from NAOKI feat. PAULA TERRY and it didn't get a "remake" (like MEMORIES = Rescue Me)

Am I missing something, or shouldn't people be a bit more excited? D&B basically just confirmed a US release of DDR2014 in what, 30+ locations (if it's really going to be at half their locations), and instead people are saying summer is too long to wait...
