Some players go by the belief that the harder you stomp, the greater your timing/score.
I've seen and heard kids stomp barefoot louder than I play with my shoes on.

Sometimes it helps if you're in a noisy arcade and the DDR machine has low volume...

It's kind of an assurance that you're actually hitting the note. If I don't hear a foot stomp with a certain arrow I begin to think somethings wrong.

I haven't had the displeasure of playing in a crappy cabinet with low volume (the next best thing is an Extreme that freezes on some songs) because I'm not yet branching out from the arcades I play at regularly.
So I simply count the beats in my head instead of stepping them.

If you see me play is sounds or even looks like I'm stomping hard but I'm not in most cases. The ONLY time I need to press hard is when I know the arrow is failing horribly and the only way to trigger the sensor is to really press on it. I wear skate shoes and they are wide so sometimes if I play flat footed it really sounds like I'm stomping but it's really my shoes. It's not so bad if I play doubles since I play on the upper portion of my foot then.
Also DDR X at Gameworks in Seattle has a BROKEN 1P left arrow and a taped but still broken 1P up arrow. The sensors on DDR X2 were crap and the 1P right arrow triggered with the slightest vibration even if you pressed the 2P right arrow just barely. It even stuck at some point.

Blaming the players for the fragility of Betson DDRX2 is fucking retarded. Yes, some people's play may wear on the sensors more, but that's on Betson. If these people didn't cause trouble on Andamiro GX-era pads and Extreme, then what do you think the problem is?
Just a reminder: it doesn't matter who plays on the pads, Betson X2 consistently needs the entire pad serviced every 2 weeks with their second batch of sensors.

Just coming here to say there's a new location.
Camelot park, Bakersfield California. We're about mid-cal, 2 hours from LA and 4 hours from San jose-ish.
(I'd like to thank yindesu for putting the listing in the database first
thanks.)
Its a brand new machine, I've but unlock code two on it, and it feels great to me. It would be nice to see this place get populated, since the new corporation that bought the location has high potential for lots of new games.

"TAKING IT TO THE PIE" |
Just a heads up, our game tech here for Zuma redid some of the welding inside of the pads and was able to resurrect the pads without replacing any of the sensors to near perfect. He had to touch up the right side and it's perfect now, the left side needs a bit of tweaking but we're able to get PFC's again.

Ironically, the same company that bought my location is also the location that bought up a number of Zuma locations. You may be seeing alot of new games

We actually already got all of our new games, X2 was a part of that batch (and we worked hard to convince the GM to get it)

@yindesu: As much as I would love a version of X2 here that can accept unlock codes (in which so far, only the Betson/Electrocoin X2 machines are only able to), I wasn't referring to Betson pads, all the pads I've played are at least Asian SN/SN2 pads. Maybe it was more of a prevention.
Off-topic: For persons with an access to DDR X and X2 dedicabs (I don't think betson would go through the hassle, but feel free to comment), do the pads have a rubber or non-slippery layer? I'm re-reading the old threads and it was mentioned (along with the pad registering steps with precision by just moving the toes even while wearing shoes).

I am hoping the product development team of Konami in charge of DDR would not release again for the second time a thoroughly unchecked released product.
It's because the unlock codes published here is designed for United States and European release. It cannot be applied to other geographical releases.
Bad luck for all players of DDR (Including me) in various countries that are affected by this problem.

When i first saw it, the pads were pretty...smooth yet steppable. I REALLY couldn't get much into it since i had my rehearsal only 10 minutes after i saw the machine so i had no time to fully inspect it but i will have MUCH more time come Tuesday (bringing everything, unlock codes, my USB drive for Edits, the works pretty much.) and i'll let you know, but more than likely someone already has daily access to a US X2 AC and can easily answer your question

I was curious since it was mentioned and praised at the location test versions. I never heard any acknowledgement that it was retained or removed (like the lightsticks in the overseas versions) on the final build. I think some even said that stepping on those pads was like playing on a PIU pad, in a positive way.
I'll be waiting for your comment, Max.

Some new info on the pads gotten from 2ch:
The pad's surface appears to look like rubber. It is significantly more difficult to slip on these pads than on the previous cabinet's pads.
The pads are sensitive. Even if you tip-toe on the panels, they will still register.

I said it was like playing on a PIU Home pad ^^;
The surface of the entire pad is smooth, sleek metal. The panels are flush with the pad, and don't depress when you step on them, but rather register as any part of your foot slides over them. It's all one flat, smooth surface.
I haven't played anything since the X2 location test, so I don't know what the final design is like, but from all the DDRX and DDR X2 I've played, the stages are so smooth and responsive that they make songs like NGO

It goes without saying, but 2ch is a Japanese site, and they weren't talking about Betson pads. Also after much play I can assure you Betson X2 pads feel nothing like GX-era bracketed pads, pre-2009 bracketless pads, or post-2009 bracketless pads. They also feel nothing like the Baohui bracketless pads I played on in Shanghai, which feel nothing like any of the aforementioned 3 Andamiro pads.
(of course, if you were actually talking about Japanese X dedicabs this whole time, then ignore this.)

Sorry to be a bother but I have a few questions.
When do I enter the unlock codes? And does the second unlock include the songs on the first one?

And for the second question, no you have to do all unlock codes

So I do it all before I enter my credit? That's annoying that you have to enter both. Thanks

Let's say the machine is $1.00 to play. If you put just one quarter in, it'll immediately go to the title screen and stay there long enough to enter one code correctly. After that, the game will return to the attract loop. You can actually just wait for it to roll around to the title screen again (Takes a couple of minutes) and the screen will persist long enough to input the second code.

And remember, at least it's easier than trying to fully unlock a SN2 on Freeplay. Freaking long attract loops in that game...
