I've seen JP pads (from that AOU video). This one is a large piece of metal sheet with the appropriate sections punched into. Typical of the redesigned pads.

What about Electrocoin, or any other distributors? Did they make and/or distribute cabs somewhat similar to Betson's?

Looks like I can see corner brackets. Like the one in the Troc?

That's what it looks like, another razor blade kit in the wild. So these "revision C" stages have only been seen in Europe so far, huh?
Edit: Who else thinks these are prototypes for the English X2 cabinets?

yes, those are definitely the same kind of pads we have at the Troc.
Also, i've been to that arcade while in Paris before, really nice place.

hopefully not, because they're still not that good.
seriously, what is the problem with making them to the same specification as the Japanese ones?

Anyone know roughly how much the Japanese pads cost, and how much these cost? I wonder if it's really worth all the time they're spending on different revisions, when they've had a fully functional (though perhaps expensive?) model in Japan all along.

Actually, the sound is offsync. The left pad have the down arrow blocked and the right pad have the up arrow blocked too

Because operators simply won't pay the extra few grand needed for that - it's already not a cheap cabinet, even in its cost cut EU/US form (JNC are now selling one for £4,850+VAT, it cost more than that when first released and new).
The thing you need to consider is that the pound has totally nosedived against the yen and the US dollar in the last 18 months (against the Yen it's dropped from a high of Y245=£1 to today's price of Y137=£1) - this increases the actual cost to us here. The dollar has also slid against the Yen (though not as badly)..
For reference, the list price for the JP DDR X cabinet when first released was Y1,980,000 - that's £14,452 without factoring in a) freight and b) VAT and customs. Factoring in those two would mean a price of approx £18K - no operator would pay that. Even £10K is stretching it too far for most ops.

Every time someone says "VAT" I keep thinking of gigantic tanks of random chemicals at a factory.
Of the total cost of the Japanese machine, how much of it is involved in the stage assembly alone?

Some thing to try.
Conditions beforehand.
1.) Must be during normal game play.
2.) Must be during song selection.
3.) Song list must be sorted by either "BPM" or "Best 30".
4.) Must not pop up the sort menu.
What do you need to do?
After you tap either [Yellow left arrow head] or [Yellow right arrow head] button, you must immediately press down the [Green rectangle] button without showing up the "Select options" menu.
If you're afraid and not brave enough to do this, you can safely test this thing on group entries or group headers without worrying.
Another thing to try.
Switch your feet continuously on a pair of freeze arrows that starts and ends at the same time. Switching of feet must follow the beat. As if you are stepping on single-spaced jumps and switching feet one after the other.

I wonder if this system maintenance (http://www.konami.jp/osirase/100316/) announcement which would take the DDR STEP EDITOR offline would add more songs to the editor?

So now you can understand how it's hard to score on this machine. Btw it's possible to do a double AA but you need to be accurate with the bad timing + have the luck your pad don't have an arrow blocked. I tried to do the unlock 5 & 6 but i doesn't work. At which part i must do the code ?

Oh dear, those scores are really really bad. They really need to get the pads and lag fixed by DDR X2.

This has been on the front page of this site for a while, read the bit in red please.

I did it but it doesn't work << . Maybe it's because of the pads... Do i need to do the first code then the second one again? Because the machine is already :

You need to enter the 5 and then 6 then.
The pads may be too sensitive, or too insensitive or some pads may get stuck ... you know the deal.
