The gimmicks are just simple speed changes tho. And they go with the song...

I think the bigger issue is that DDR is starting to use more 24ths and 32nds in their charts and don't have a noteskin that shows a difference between the two. Combine that with most of the song being at a slower speed and forces a slow speed mod, and it's just not a fun experience.
