As for playability, they play as good as the original DDR machines, however only time will tell if this new fix will last.
False statement. I bet they STILL don't even bounce like the old panels did.

I'm a little confused as to how this makes the maintenance easier - the pics still seem as if the holes in the top sheet of the panel aren't big enough to remove the plexi panels from underneath (though the pic isn't really clear enough to see the construction properly). Do the corners slide out from underneath or something?

The corners slide out yes. I would love to obviously do so and take a panel out, but I fear doing this in a location as popular as troc I would probably get thrown out in minutes. I'm sure I'll have more news on this fix as it comes in, another thing being replaced on the machine were the panels as Mercury stated the panels were less shiny.
As I'm not sure if people here are aware but the same machine originally had arrows that had no decals left. So it could be the case that KONAMI have improved the design of the panel itself too. I'll wait for Mercury to give you his two cents, since I am very very very ill.

Yep, I briefly went into Troc to check out the new stage design, and I found the pads feel EXACTLY the same as before. The brackets and their screws are flush with the rest of the metal sheet and they use the same countersunk screws as the rest of the stage.
That said, I've been slightly more consistent on my timing (though not by a terrible lot): stuff like 5 greats on Reach Up and 9g and a couple of pad misses on Loving You. Not anything to write home about but at the same time it's not too bad.
I should also mention the new Insert USB screen that appears just after starting a credit (before the Caution screen). When I started a game on the left side the right select button flashed on that screen which is a minor bug.

Slivers of steel are always something an arcade attendant likes to see.
Don't play barefoot.
Between the sheet metal and the wood the pads look like something a fan created in their garage. Is that the only machine that has that configuration of stage? Did Konami just send someone out or was the change requested?

Wow, quite excited to hear that they fixed(?) the pads for the X machine at the Troc. I've been stuck playing their SN the last few times i visited because i didn't want to waste any more credits on the X machine. I'll be visiting some time soon to check them out myself too.
If they supposedly feel "like the original DDR machines", then it looks like X is finally playable, especially with the unlocks nearing completion. (on that note, have any unlocks been applied to that machine? last i checked it was still with the default songlist)

Trocs machine is on LV5 unlock atm so I do believe you will need to type in the LV6 one. I would certainly give it a try and post back your feedback on the new modification.

I have a question about unlock codes.
A DDRX cab have the original song list (0 unlock code was used on it) if i ONLY use unlock code lv6, what will hapend ?
I unlock the stuff from all the previous level or only level 6 ?
Because if players have to put all the 6 codes in a row, this sucks a bit...

You will have to enter all the codes in a row.

I'm not sure if DDRX is the same, but in SN2, you can insert a credit, press start, let the time run out and the game will go back to the title screen until you press start again. This is VERY useful when you are trying to put multiple codes at once, or when you are working and testing the pads.

I'm not the anxious type to do things at the very second.
It'll have to be this weekend or something unless Lord Toon put them in.

In DDRX you dont need to insert any credits to enter the codes, you just have to wait for the title screen to appear and enter the codes then.

Yes, but if you take too long it goes through the HOW TO PLAY and DEMONSTRATION screens which takes much longer than the insert credit idea.

Which reminds me, I really hope they improve "HOW TO PLAY". It's completely embarrassing compared to Pump's Tutorial Station (which by contrast, is like having Lesson Mode at the arcade).

People got together again and kinda made another message.

Not sure the meaning behind it, was hoping someone would though.
