Did we ever get mp3s/have access to mp3s of the songs never put into a game?
thats kind of a stupid question. if they never existed, how can we get our hands on mp3s.Post #782 · Posted at 2013-03-14 01:10:47pm 12.4 years ago

Here's the sound director (TAG)'s comment translated if anyone cares~
I want to still be useful for something ._.

Finally the new version of DDR has been released.
Unlike the last mix, "X3 VS 2ndMIX", this version has no subtitle, it has simply returned to "DanceDanceRevolution".
Of course, this isn't just to look back on the past, but it also means we are turning a new leaf and experiencing a rebirth for the future.
For this edition, both the cabinet and the interface have been changed to a white and bright theme, so we also wanted to have bright, catchy songs that would fit this theme. From composers for other BEMANI series to artists who have not been in DDR for a long time and new artists all together, all these have been jumbled together to create a megamix-like feel.
While also serving as the sound director for DDR, I also worked on the development of DanceEvolution ARCADE. I feel both games have both strong similarities and differences, yet both are dance simulation games. Based on my experience with both games, I was inspired to create a more specialized feel for this game to bring out its unique strengths.
Of course I hope longtime players and new players alike will enjoy this game.

With what TAG said + looking at the recents IIDX or what Yoshitaka said about Voltex II artist going to other games, it really feels like Konami is expanding its songs variety.
Anyway, I went to see this new cabinet, but too many people at Leisure Land 2, a non-player like me wouldn' want to embarass himself in front of all those players...guess I'll wait before trying Nekomata's song...

TAG's explanation pretty much explains why we have
World Sequence, and WALL5 on this game as well as S-C-U,
Redalice and the like.
Which is good.

A DDR 2010 crossover? Not the song I was expecting from that game, but I wonder if there is going to be more later.
On the plus side, it will finally have doubles charts (yay).

I wish to have song by D-Crew//Design Mad Crew because 2 songs is melodic
- Summer Fairy Tale by Design Mad Crew from DDR HP5
- One Side Love by D-Crew(ft.I miss to remember) from DDR PS3
and the other song
- Here I go again by NM ft. Malaya from DDR HP1
- High School Love by DJ.Yoshitaka (ft.I miss to remember) from DDR Winx Club
- Brillant 2U (vocal Mix) by NAOKI ft.Eric Anthony from DDR HP3
- Dessert Journey by DJ.Taka fromm DDR HP2
Likely to add 6 song from DDR 2013 Version

"Give me a steady beat." |
All the song Information looks filled in so all I have for that is nitpicky title display corrections. Later...
Here's what I got from the launch at Akihabara:
These machines don't look so bad in person, they're not as pretty pretty sparkle as they appear in the promo photos. They are white with semi-transparancies all over the machine, the steel is super polished, the arrow panels don't really look all that bad (I honestly think they're better than the X arrows). A lot of the translucency cycles through colored lights during game play. It looks really nice in action.
The machines are running Windows XP Embedded version 6.15. When the machines turn on there's a custom DDR logo splash screen instead of POST info and Windows logo.
When they turned the machines on they kept getting a boot error at first, both machines that came in did the same thing so I'm not sure if it's design or what. The error was a series of numbers in red: 2-1001-0007.
The new machines do not have USB ports.
The game version is J:C:A:2013031000
The monitors are deeply recessed in the machine and the glass of the cabinet is a good inch or two away from the panel. When you look at a working screen from an angle there's a weird ghost mirroring of the image on the screen. I didn't notice it while playing and facing it directly though.
The selector arrows aren't arrows anymore, they're tiny squares on their edge with an arrow painted on them indicating direction. The select button is also a tiny square. The controls really look a little comical being so small. Also, the up/down buttons don't change difficulty during song select, they cycle through sort. To change difficulty you have to use the good, old fashioned double-down arrow and double-up arrow commands.
The stage feels overbuilt... like even more so than the original machines. I liked how they felt very very much. They were a bit stiff but they felt like jumping up and down on a stone slab, super sturdy and super sensitive.
The UI is not as bad as I thought it would be. The spartan song select screen looks fine once you start using it. I could not set a rival on my card, there was no initial "gift". The characters selectable from the get go were (not in order) Emi, Baby-lon, Yuni, Alice, Rage, Afro, Jenny, Gus, Bonnie, Julio, Ruby and Zero. Zero, Bonnie, Julio, Rage (and maybe Ruby) have new outfits.
There is no Pro/Happy mode select anymore, it goes straight to Style Select. And after that it goes straight to Song Select. There are no courses!
The eAmuse and menu music sounds pretty good. It's very upbeat compared to X3 and sounds vaguely like something you'd hear on a IIDX machine.
The loading screen for DDR is just the DDR logo on white with pink and light blue trim (they really carried that color scheme throughout the whole game).
Goods keep your combo. The counter turns blue and there's a blue FULL COMBO flourish if you didn't go below Good. N.G.s still break your combo.
Didn't see any new stages for the characters to dance on. But given the state of this game anything is a potential update or unlock.
I don't know if this is new or not but there's a flash of light within the arrows now as they're being hit. Not light on the border glowing outward, but an internal flash. Normally it looked like Marvelous made the arrows flash white while Perfect and anything lower got a random rainbow color. Then I noticed players with the point difference enabled the flash pattern changed. Blue when the difference was positive, red when it was negative, and white when it was even.
The songs:
I really liked the default set. Way better than X3. The music sounds really well made and catchy (the console revivals not-withstanding (which are fine by me)). It was a pleasant surprise to see world sequence, Tommy Sunshine, and Harmony Machine return.
Ah La La La is a very solid song that reminds me of the sound and step pattern of We Come Alive.
Don't play Sucka Luva on Double/Expert unless you like jumps. ...Really really like jump.
Beautiful Dream is already becoming overplayed, but it is a nice song and the steps are steady and well placed.
Condor mixes 12th and 16th notes into the patterns.
CaramellDansen is exactly what you'd expect, but it's still fun to play on Single and Double.
WILD SIDE sounds like a song written by the band Europe. And there's a point in the song where the steps kind of go POSSESSION on you.
My favorite song at the moment is Straight Oath. The music and the charts are just amazing.
Monkey Business is a very straight forward chart, then there are the stops. The song intentionally gets blue note syndrome and then corrects itself with half-beat pauses containing micro Freeze Arrows.
...Oh yeah, on that note, did not see one single Shock Arrow chart. No Challenge charts at all. Guess what we're unlocking for the next few months (in addition to hats for Baby-lon).
All the album are is extremely details and very good looking. I think the only scanned album cover in the default list is Rainbow Rainbow.
I talked with some other players who could speak Japanese. Their thought were that this is way better than X3 was when it started out. I an inclined to agree, so far this mix looks nice.
I did manage to get some pics of the Tokyo Leisure Land staff retiring two of their existing DDR machines for two of the new ones. The old machines were dismantled last night but they had just rolled them to the back. I would love to know where they sent them to:

And I've been awake entirely too long...

Thanks for the writeup. I'm guessing oni charts will be enjoy level unlocks ala X2 since we already know Beautiful Dream has one. A lot of the default list difficulties also seem kind of tame compared to what we saw in X2/X3, so I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of oni charts pop up for them. Then again this is the default list.

A question since i don't know much about DDR, but regarding those Oni charts still locked, is it always the case? When I see IIDX, they simply reveal the level 12 songs some time after the launch without any particular unlock method but that's different for DDR?
Also regarding the songs I heard so far, Redalice really felt like IIDX's Redalice songs (in either a good or bad way), and Kors K's wasn't exactly the type of songs I prefer coming from him, but looked fun to watch with its short stops. Now I want to hear Heron (always craving for more SCU's animal series song)

Sometimes. The oni charts for some of the AC X2 songs were unlocked by Enjoy Level. The same was true of Diamond Dust's oni chart. Others are simply unlocked on their own, like the APPEND TRAVEL songs on X3.

fudge I'm not getting anything done today until pictures come out and then people will be wondering why I'm grinning
Zero and Bonnie, I think I get; newbs only had two outfits (excluding Dance Wars). Rage and Julio (and... maybe Ruby?) have me scratching my head a bit...
Is Bonnie's the Dance Wars outfit?
Also, what happened to Zukin? o_o Maybe they're working on a new one...? Sad that Rinon had to leave. And... I guess PiX. Zukin, I'm just wondering if they spaced her off because ~magical game that can be updated and doesn't need everything upon release~ ~although it is technically complete because characters don't count as deciding completion~ ;>>
Still re-psyched, though.

How do soundtracks work with constantly updated games, anyway...?
EDIT: And almost totally missed the announcement of a kors k boss song. :0..........
