Here's Closer.

The rating is strange. That's not an 8 by the old scale or the X scale, though it appears they're using the old scale. Honestly, I really hope they don't, I just converted every song in StepMania to the X scale.
It's a 5 in the Wii version, so I'm guessing the PS2 versions uses X scale.Post #782 · Posted at 2009-06-04 12:14:40pm 16 years ago

Gah, new page. In case people missed it, here's the simfile for Disturbia.
And Arctic may be on to something. Closer is rated a 7 on X, but that is no X 7. That is more...normal 7.

I prefer the interface for PS2 version I'm susprised that PS3 edition looks so different and not too much attractive than PS2 and Wii versions, at least for me (sorry, that's just my impression)..
Oh! Wii version look so colourful but nice, for me. ::

I'm assuming thats why the PS3 and 360 versions weren't shown. undergoing some graphical overhauls.
Whats so weird about the Disturbia steps? O.o They look fine to me, improvement over past US exclusive licenses for the ps2 series.
Also, has the video for Konami's presser been put online yet?

I noticed that the IGN articles for the PS2/Wii editions of DDR mention no song count, but the Xbox/PS3 articles do mention song counts (the 50+150 DLC).
I also notice that Konami only mentions the "50 songs" thing in reference to the PS3/360 versions? Might be something to think about.

This is great to hear. Poor covers like Makes Me Wonder from HP2 may be a thing of the past! This makes me really excited. Oh and the music videos bit is for Wii version too obviously. I even saw one of the stage floor shots that did actually look like a portion out of a music video more than it did in a venue.
So... no one else is going to notice that's our favorite BEMANI diva, NAOKI in that photo there? lolhttp://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/03/joystiq-live-from-konamis-e3-2009-keynote/

"I'm honestly pissed off." |
So, on the Disturbia steps:
Hanging around here and r21freak I have learned that some people simply can't see doublesteps. A chart can be completely loaded, and they won't see a single one. Then there are people like me, who can just quickly scan a chart and spot every one of them. Thus, the disparities between the people who say, "Oh, Disturbia looks good." and those who say it's trash. It has fair sections where you can face the screen, but every few measures you have to doublestep. I doubt even silenttype01 will actually be doing the spins, because you face away from the screen for 3-4 measures at a time.
Overall, it looks like it was put together by somebody with a tendency to forget where the player's feet are, so the streams don't follow each other well. Somebody at Konami is either poorly trained, or really pressed for time. Probably really pressed for time.
Oh, and yes, I could handle this chart. Easily. Probably SDG it with less than 20 tries.
And like I said on the video, having the X annoyer in the game seals me further into the no-buy position.

Closer's Simfile done.
I also reuploaded Disturbia
Seems when I was cutting Disturbia, Audacity decided to tack on two minutes of nothing to the end of the song, beefing up both its file size and song length. I spotted it when I noticed Disturbia was listed as a long song on my SM. I cut that out and now it should be pure song, and DDR length.
Closer is fairly easy, but fun.
Disturbia is okay, but I don't like some of the gallups.
By the way, their ratings are really screwed up. Disturbia is listed as an 8 on the PS2 game, which I guess is kind of close if we're talking X-Scale, but it's really closer to a 9. Meanwhile, it's a 5 on the Wii game. Huh? Also: Closer has the same ratings on the Wii game and PS2 game.

...so much info...
PS3 looks to be a buy for me, even though we have not much info on it, the pad looks great.
Song list is a mix of "YES's" and "ehhh's" from me, some songs i think they are GREAT additions to the game, while other i think don't fit the "DDR" style that much...but the charts might move me otherwise >_>
So far everything though is shaping up, really liking that the PS3 has 8 panels too, makes it more of a challenge for me
50 songs for the PS3/360 was not something i was looking forward too, BUT the 150 DLC shocked the hell out of me! Hoping that the DLC is straight up Konami Originals, i will buy every single DLC if that's the case then
As for my graduation, it was one of the greatest experiences i won't forget, loved every minute of it, got some REALLY great stuff, but i will put that on the LIO thread soon, have to work on some stuff now.

This. It's the only major concern that's come out of this E3 demo. These ratings are more off than SuperNOVA2.Quote: Kyzentun

I take it your position is "double stepping should be banned."You really hated early DDR, especially Club MIX didn't you.

Think about it, the DDROC site asked for at least 15 to 20 of our "best DDR songs" Out of all of the songs, listed (not counting the same songs that were already put on there by different member). That's roughly around over 200 songs.......so we might actually see a huge revival of DDR songs PLUS it did say that the DLC will also include new songs as well (possibly Polyrhythm, Koko Soko, etc, or they could just be available on the disc).
...hey here's something else to think about, are they going to release a free demo for the Playstation Network/Xbox Live? I wonder when that will be >_>
I am also wondering about the online mode as well, IS there going to be online for the PS3 and 360? (More than likely) but if there is, then what online modes will there be? So many questions, but were going to have to see as time passes on by

If that's true, then hopefully there'll not only be the revivals, maybe some imports too!

Stoic (For Extreme)
Paranoia -Respect-
Max. (period)...

I don't see double stepping as necessarily being bad. Look at HVAM. Heck, even Daikenkai is pretty fun. Double stepping is only a problem at super high speeds (260 BPM and above) or with 16ths. There are so many ways to handle double stepping that you already know: spinning/turning, double stepping, adding steps to make them easier to turn to. All of this is part of the ability to play DDR. If you can't handle double steps properly, you just need to practice. Same with gallops, cross overs, spins, and jack hammers.
As far as facing away from the screen for 3 or 4 measures, that's not a problem really. Look at Jane Jana. The end stream, if followed, has you turned away from the screen from 4 or so measures. You just memorize that part. AM-3P does the same thing. Red Zone has you turning away from the screen a few times, as does Quickening. No big deal.

Yeah, I'd pick exotic ethnic any day over Arrabbiata, unless I feel the need to lose my credit.
