Max-Extreme the OMES was more of a reward for getting through the big boss. Candy, Kakumei that’s easier than the Heavy chart, and an alternate chart for Dance Dance Revolution. They had conditions like no-refill lifebar or dark but they weren’t like this.
It's actually gone back and forth (between "EES easier than ES" and "EES harder than ES") a handful of times since SN1.- SN1: kind of the opening of the floodgates. Chaos is obviously easier than Fascination Maxx but it's also a gimmick boss at the same time.
- SN2: see Pluto Relinquish obviously
- X: Both. There's on the bounce (which is easier than Saber Wing AIHM and whose gimmick is literally "sounds like it should have gimmicks but doesn't"), and there's also Trigger.
- X2: see Valkyrie dimension obviously
- X3: Both again. There's the older Evolved series going into Tohoku Evolved, and there's also Paranoia Revolution into Love is the Power Reborn.
- 2014: Both, if you count the two phases of the RDA event. Life4'ing Egoism 440

- A: I count this as "EES harder than ES" because Ace For Aces took longer to clear than Endymion.

We've had multiple cases before of these types of bosses or event finales never being cleared under the original conditions, Konami eventually having to throw their hands up and lower the difficulty for it to happen months later.
Wait, unless this includes Doubles, I only remember Over The Period

I was gonna say "you forgot 2013!" but I guess that didn't ever have an EES, did it...

It only took longer to clear because the parameters set in place for the event; if we're talking about the charts themselves, there's no way ENDYMION is easier in any capacity.

Speaking of which, in DDR X2, by the time the VS REPLICANT course came out, was Valkyrie dimension ever cleared on EES? I remembered following that game, but didn't see any news of that song being cleared on EES before it was in the course.

Nope, the first Valkyrie EES clear was after Vs Replicant. But if you count this as "failed to beat Valkyrie before its conditions were relaxed", then I think the first contender would have been Chaos
There are videos from a month before Vs Replicant where the WR displayed by the machine is a clear by someone named MACK1102, but (if I recall correctly) no one with this name ever showed up to claim credit on any forum or account, nothing was ever posted about the very end of the chart until it was confirmed someone got that far on video (a month later), and this person also had one other equally-strange-looking WR-at-the-time on Paranoia Hades

• Can you manually select Flare Gauge even when the stage isn't Galaxy Stage? Does it depend on unlocks/event progress, and/or selecting Galaxy Play vs. Premium Play?
As far as I know, Flare Gauge is exclusive to Galaxy Stage; think about it as a challenge gauge from DDRMAX to Supernova, except that judgments GREAT and below (or in the case of Flare Gauge EX, PERFECT and below) can decrease the gauge with no recovery.Whether or not you select Galaxy Play or Premium Play doesn't matter as Flare Gauge only applies when you're in Galaxy Stage.
I'm curious about this point due to what I saw at the end of this video:
I couldn't tell what was said when I first saw this pop up for O4MA due to lacking Japanese comprehension, but apparently the first time you play Hou, all songs and difficulties for that style (Singles or Doubles) have Flare Gauge I-IX unlocked. I would think this means you can use the Flare Gauge during normal play without having the songs be from the Galaxy Six, especially since those songs have a "best FG clear mark" on the normal song select screen after being unlocked. I haven't seen anyone verify the gauge access yet AFAIK, but that could always be because once the song became accessible, players that could challenge Hou found that they'll be Hou-ing for a while.
I also imagine this means that once that Hou over there is cleared (before KAC, perhaps?), that Player unlocks the EX gauge for normal play as well. If so, does that mean people who get it will try for MFCs with the gauge active? Doubtful, but if someone does, I vote for calling them FLEX MFCs.
P.S. I just thought of this as I was about to post, but you don't suppose there could be a Flare Gauge EX+ in the future, do you? If EX is estimated to be 995k, could there be another that says MFC or die? That would probably phase out RISKY if it exists.

I would say it sounds cool, but I feel as though gauge doesn't actually matter for MFCs

Something I just read in a Youtube comment that I didn't really grasp until now - Flare Gauge EX is so harsh, that FEFEMZ's Over The Period
996k FC WR from less than two weeks ago would have failed the gauge. (91 perfects 5 greats)

If this situation was to exist I feel like it'd be easier to just expand the RISKY option into additional PFC/MFC settings. An extra gauge would feel redundant at that point tbhPost #790 · Posted at 2023-11-07 02:43:44pm 1.8 years ago

Well, the other day Hibiki failed the song with full combo, 82 perfects and 9 greats. So yeah, it's rough as hell

Hibiki's run gets less far than FEFEMZ's (47x,xxx versus 48x,xxx), but interestingly the machine says that the WR is by a player named KANAME at 49x,xxx. Is there a VOD of KANAME's run?

KANAME is a BPL player (and also HIBIKI's younger brother, for those who don't know) and the end of that run is on his Twitter/X at the very least, but that doesn't matter now that harujun has gotten up to 548k.

I appreciate the link! I'm a complete idiot and forgot YouTube now organizes videos into even more sections (including streams) so I didn't even see the vid when I checked Hibiki's channel earlier

Sheeeeeesh! Okay, who at Konami do we need to tie up and torture by tickles to get them to go ahead and rate this the first 20? I've clearly been outta the game in DDR for some time (no local DnB with it with a devoted fanbase), but given where low to high 19s are in the series from what I've seen, this would qualify for a 20 in my book. Like someone said in an earlier post, it may be re-rated down the line, but seeing as how there's gotta be more craziness and possible gimmicks after this last vid of progression, it's gotta be crazier right?....right? Anxiety kicking in as I think about it....
(sidenote, I wouldn't be surprised if it is re-rated. There have been a couple songs lately I've seen debated that are mis-rated *cough*Muteki Buffalo*cough*)

The video just went up. Still looks like a death stream is coming up.

Best run so far: 830,080
https://ibb.co/N95HYGk
Doing some maths, the point value of each note in this track is 929 points each.
Assuming no freeze arrows (which there are) that’s 1,076 notes.
Noting that there is quite the number of freeze arrows, and the max combo currently from Fefemz is 777, with 114 OKs as Freeze arrows. So far.
With that, the math I got it approximately 959 total notes if there are no more freeze arrows.
So I used this calculator to figure out the final potential score.
https://sil.fyi/ddr-calc/
Based on the calculations I found. (Assuming only 114 freeze arrows are present)
We’re looking at 952 notes atm.
The final score needed is looking to be a required 995,000 to pass with the current gauge.
Assuming this track runs at 460 BPM during the death run stream with 8th notes with a remaining 175 notes in the entire song. We’re looking at 15.333 notes per second. Meaning they would have 11 seconds left of the track if that stream maintains.
So, I’m gonna be lenient and so there’s still maybe 15 seconds of song left for this to be complete.
I believe in Fefemz.
