You must have a pretty uptight community because people will frequently play singles when there's lines of 5 or 6 people on my local machine and no one thinks anything of it. I mean, most of us will still play versus if you ask, but a lot will just play games of singles and no one seems to give much of a shit either way.
I also realize my perspective is probably slightly different since I live 15 minutes from a DDR Ace machine. I can definitely understand being frustrated if you had to travel reasonably far to play only to have to wait again.

Same in high queue experiences I had. People will play Singles, and if you opt to join their credit in the card line, you sacrifice your choices. It’s basically the compromise for impatience, and I prefer it this way.

It's common courtesy to let someone else use the pad if you're not using both sides.
I've never been called out on this and I've been in queues. Maybe it's because we're British and know how to queue.I also like how I threatened to kick a child in the head and that's not the incendiary point of this discussion.

Not all of us are interested in stirring up needless drama, you know. I doubt anyone who would actually kick a child in the head would say that aloud on an internet forum.

You worked out I was being incredibly facetious.
Well done. You may have a biscuit.

Honestly it probably has to do with how tight knit your community is. We have a group chat set up with all of the regulars and we all know each other's skill levels for the most part. A lot of the time when there's a line we'll just pair people off, "A plays with B, C plays with D" and each person picks 2 songs. People are for the most part really good about asking if someone is ok with playing a song, that way while you're only picking 2 songs it's stuff you want to play.

^No, that has nothing to do with the quality of the person themselves. I've met total newbies and pros at levels I'll never reach who were both fun to play with and totally affable, and then I've met people from both categories who aren't worth the shit on my freshly soiled shoe. Same for all the in-betweens, ofc.

The only players I really have a huge problem with are the ones who smell really bad. I don't mean people who start getting a little smelly after playing lots of hard songs, I mean people who straight up fucking reek. And I've dealt with people like that more than I should have to.

I've known plenty of "nerds" who still understand the basic concept of hygiene. It doesn't excuse people not wearing deodorant and smelling like gas station bathrooms.

The worst players are the ones who invite their friends to play when you're clearly in line.
The best players are the ones you can sit next to and have a good conversation with while you wait. Or just laugh at the other players with.

I don't get the disdain for doubles players - I mean, they play the same # of songs per set as they would in single player mode, just use 2 pads... let them be.
Post #77 · Posted at 2018-04-13 06:07:02pm 7.2 years ago
I have no disdain for doubles players, nor do I have disdain for singles players that want to play alone if versus still costs each player a full credit.
Now, if it's versus premium, and you STILL wanna be a loner, I have to question that considering you're sacrificing double the amount of play for the benefit of getting to pick all 4 of your songs in a row (at the expense of people waiting).
Clearly you have never been generous on an Extreme machine back in the day
Butterfly, then Crash, then Daikenkai, EVERY SINGLE TIME

Honestly, I wouldn't mind being in a versus set and having the other player pick all of the songs. But that's just me.
