DDR 2018 Wishlist

Of all things, I do want to see a bit more "pop" licensed songs, maybe add a bit of K-pop or J-pop? (I'm not much of a fan of either myself, but I thought this would be interesting) And more Western songs, old and new? I want to see more 90s and 00's songs in DDR besides just Hillbilly Shoes. I'm also down for Dancemania revivals as well, and maybe remix them, like with IF YOU WERE HERE?

I'm also imagining this "tribute to Naoki Maeda" where in-house artists remix Naoki's songs, kinda like U1's 2MB remixes in the past and the KAC songs in X3.

The beatnation RHYZE artists really need to compose some (or more) KO's for DDR

Settin' the Scene for the arcade releases, please! (mostly because of DanceEvolution ARCADE)

I also want characters to have more roles in DDR than just being dancers, and have an overall story that involves ALL of them cause I like Rinon and Baby-lon and Yuni, but I wish other characters have the spotlight And I'm still pissed that Victory-Concent is the only character that isn't selectable in e-AMUSE in DDR A

A female announcer? Since jubeat, REFLEC BEAT, pop'n music, and MUSECA all have one. That would be as interesting as not having any announcer at all.

Maybe what they could do is release a chapter every week/two weeks, and let you play 3 missions per credit like PIU's WorldMax or Quest Zone.

the only ones i could see needed to be removed is DEGRS, and the MAX specials, but everything else is fine.

Okay but Paranoia Eternal and Healing Vision X-Special were actually both pretty legit and for what it's worth, I think Dead End GRS should stay just to signify the jump from 18 to 19.

Anyway, here are some of my serious suggestions (I still want Kind Lady though):

- Some of the older club mix songs with new charts would be cool, like the original Gradiusic Cyber
- Make Love Shine a playable chart
- Revive ska a go go.
- Bring Maho back
- Bring back the character cut ins
- As someone mentioned before, a female announcer would be cool
- Keep the same general interface, but give it something other than a sky theme

Just want to chime in two more things:

- Make the Screen Filter on white cabs darker. I have mine on "Darkest" and it still feels hard to hit the arrows when the background is bright (a la BGMs like that Cheerleading Hinabita song). I'm sure this isn't a problem on SD cabs.

- Make a home PC version of DDR like Infinitas so they can make money knowing a lot of people have pads, especially something like a Step Maniax pad (maybe Kyle can talk to them again and work something out). I love Stepmania and the DDR themes are great (from "KENP"), but it's not the real thing and DDR A is hard to simulate because of the song select screen.

Like Infinitas, Konami can sell packs and make money like that. Market research wise, they can find out how many people have USB pads and stuff. This is different than doing a console release because everything is digital. All they gotta do is take the data from DDR A and change it up a bit and make it as a home version. It would be great for people like me who wants the exact timing like in the arcade. They can even make a way for us to sync the global offset since we'll obviously have different setups.

Another suggestion I got today: Some song-creating contests a la Pop'n, MUSECA, and SDVX to help spice up the tracklist.

I don't agree with nuking the specials, but DE:GRS isn't the signifying jump from 18 to 19 - the two songs that get that honour are IX and MAX. (Period).

Personally I think the specials should stay, not because they're any good but because at this point they're DDR original songs that have been around long enough that even if they're garbage charts they're iconically garbage charts. I mean, Valkyrie Dimension is obviously not a good chart, but you know, it would be kind of strange to see it gone.

Also, because not all of them are total garbage, and inconsistently removing only a few of them would drive me nuts.

A new engine. Seriously, everything since has basically been bolted onto the DDR X PC engine but with new UI elements. Not even the stages have changed much since X.

It'd give them an excuse to redo the stages/character models/etc., and make the UI more fluid/add some extra effects and what not.

Except the original AM-3P, Brilliant2U, Dynamite Rave, Dead End, B4U, and D2R are all fine with their original charts. The Groove Radar specials WON'T be missed. We don't need them. They're either Royz level of shitttiness or too easy.


In the end of the day, arrows are arrows and the core gameplay is all that matters. Everything else can be the same and I personally wpuld only care for the first day. More people would care longer, but even they'll worry more about hitting the arrows than what stage is on.

people in this thread have stated they wanted changes or more prominence to aesthetics, i think they'd care
also people out there like the groove radar specials, and people want to AAA them, regardless of chart quality. might as well get rid of the 2010 songs too then

Well i mean, We don't know what Konami is gonna do honestly. They could bring it to Japan only and exclude America out while still running the DDR A server for America.
