GameCube Virtual Console is all I need to make this a Day-1 purchase. Imagine having Melee, Kirby Air Ride, Paper Mario TTYD, The Wind Waker, and Resi 4 on a handheld.

They're gonna have to do a lot to sell this thing to me. I don't do a lot of gaming outside of my house, and I prefer to do it on a TV anyway. It's gonna need to support my digital 3DS library or something to get me to buy it. Game Cube games that I can run on my modded WiiU aren't going to bring me in, and neither are updated ports of games I already have on my WiiU. I am a huge Nintendo fan, though, so I hope there is something that's going to make me want to get this.

If they do bring back Gamecube VC, i'm hoping that each game won't cost too much; as the price of games for each newer system goes up ($5 NES, $8 SNES, $10 N64, $20 for Wii). $12 would be great, but $15 isn't too bad.
I'm also hoping that they will announce NEW games that nobody knows about yet. I'm not willing to pay full-price for enhanced ports of already existing WiiU games; which I already own.

Man, SFV on this thing would be a bloody nightmare...
Mostly because of the inevitable "durrhurr smash better fighter".

In the case of a comparison with Street Fighter V... It is. Let's be real.
I mean how is a Street Fighter game so deprived of content at launch that not even a damn Arcade mode is in there?
Don't care if content like that one would be added as part of "future DLCs"- stuff like this should already come in the Day 1 package.
(The speech goes same-way with Smash Bros. DLCs, but at least the base game already had the main fighting modes in there)

Can we all agree that GameCube VC on a handheld would be the best thing ever?

I was late on the Nintendo train and never got a GC, so I missed all the good stuff. That would honestly make my day.
I like how amidst all the controversy, I can't wait to have a console I can finally bring to speech and debate tournaments. It should be fun to easily get a group together for Smash Bros or Mario Kart. Since I don't have as much "at home" time as I used to, I'm openly embracing the Switch.
If I'm crazy for this, keep in mind that I was an early adopter for the Wii U and I still believe it has more games than PS4 and XB1. You're probably right.

I'll buy the Switch if they walk on stage, open with a lame pun about people "switching" over to the new console, then fake laugh and smash the display stage model with a sledgehammer.
I am easily swayed.

...and the Bomberman reboot, too!

A little part of me actually expected it because of the recent Momotaro Dentetsu game on the 3DS.

Only really excited for Bomberman and a new Shin Megami Tensei. And HAHAHAHAHAHA funny meme going back to Street Fighter 2 and somehow making ANOTHER pseudo sequel. I won't lie, it's cool to see Violent Ken again, but is this seriously all the system could handle? Not even Street Fighter 4? Can't wait for it to get pissed on by the FGC.
Oh, and 2.5-6.5 hours on battery is... eh. If it's on the higher end of that estimation, then it's not BAD, but if it's like 3 or 3.5 hours... that simply ain't enough.
Append; WHY AREN'T YOU BASTARDS TALKING ABOUT ROMANCE OF THE THREE KINGDOMS
Append The Append, Append!; WHAT THE FUCK THERE'S A NEW NO MORE HEROES? CAN YOU PEOPLE ACTUALLY MENTION THE GOOD SHIT ON THE THREAD

NGL, I'm more optimistic about the Switch than I already was, and definitely moreso than the Wii U; there's strong games that are actually coming out in 2017, and I really love what they've placed inside their joycons (and not to mention it's officially region-free now).
People are gonna complain that the online service now has a paywall, but they aren't looking at the big picture: maybe this time, we are gonna have online features in (for example) Splatoon 2/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe that are fully featured; we don't have to pick between 2-4 maps/courses and be stuck playing the same level a gajillion times again, and the prospect of playing a free NES/SNES games with newly-added online capabilities every month has me excited.
I'm hoping that the third-party companies will not try to port their PS4/Xbox One games and expect it to give out the same results (like how WB made that port of Batman: Arkham City for Wii U ) and instead make games that are tailor-made for the Switch, and from the looks of it, at least Sega/Atlus got the message with SMT among other games.

A free NES/SNES game every month? You get /four/ free games a month with Xbox Live Gold and probably get some free shit with PSN too. Not a big deal.

True, but keep in mind that the free games via PS+ only work as long as you don't end your subscription; Xbox Live is the only service that can boast you actually keeping your games regardless. I'm hoping that this will be the same case with the Switch, especially since I paid (at a discount, to be fair) to upgrade some of my Virtual Console games from the Wii to the Wii U...
