I was playing Daikenkai on DDR Supernova 2 (Expert, Doubles). I chose to play that song because my dad was with me, and he loves that song. I've never played this song on doubles, but felt determined. Not even thirty-seconds into the song, my toe tripped on one of the screws on the left arrow on the player 2 side. I ended up lunging over the player 1 pad and fell on the floor, failing the song as well.

"new phone who dis" |
When someone put a quarter on the arcade screen to save their spot, and I thought they were giving it to me.

A few years ago, I remember trying to pass max 300 in an arcade, but my footwork was very messy (since I trained on a home pad).
So 45 seconds in, I got my foot stuck in between the ddr metal pad's end and a pump it up pad's end, like a phone stuck in between your couch cushions. I failed the song (duh!) but I started screaming, my foot was stuck for 5mins, and it took 3-4 people to move the two pads away from each other (no wheels)
I tried to run away from embarrassment, but because my leg became super sore I tripped onto the floor......

I was playing Ba Kkwo on doubles and I jumped off the pad.
Edit: The chart, for reference: click me!
I had that happen once when I attempted to play Valkyrie Dimension on singles Expert, haha. Fortunately no one but my friend was around to see and we both just laughed.Edit: The chart, for reference: click me!
I also had this somewhat awkward moment when someone commented on the difficulty of a doubles chart I was playing. My occupied mind replied with "Oh it's actually Basic" without realizing the possible context. Made for a good laugh after the fact.

There was a time when I was around 9-10 when I watched a video of ICNH AAA'ing Silent Hill (3rd Christmas Mix) on DDR MAX2 qon YouTube, and I thought to myself, "This should be pretty easy."
Then a few days later, I attempted to play the song on DDR SuperNOVA on an arcade and I failed miserably at the start of the freeze section as it was a lot trickier than I expected it to be. Luckily it didn't attract many or even a few people though, only my dad.

Two come to mind.
First one was when I was younger and the local mall still had an arcade with a DDR Extreme cabinet. I made the mistake of playing with Flip Flops on and playing Healing Vision . my flip flops flew off my feet, causing me to play barefoot. Luckily no one saw me.
And this one happened about a year ago, but with a Pump Machine. I was playing, I believe Mr. FireFighter on Hard at a casino in Primm Valley, and for some reason I did a spin. My glasses flew off my face, but I kept playing (I'm surprised considering how bad my vision is..) and a guy passing by picked up my glasses and saw that the lense on one side broke. (these were half wire, so they had a clear string under them that snapped) Of course sweaty ol' me went to the gift shop nearby and got superglue.
Not too embarrassing, but those were my embarrassing moments.

Haha oh my god the mere experience of playing in public was worth a laugh.
I played DDR X3 at a mall in the Philippines a while back for the first time in years.
I did excellently at my first two rounds, Alstroemeria (Lv. 3) and Flower (Lv. 9)
OH HO WHAT BADASS AM I I WAS NEVER THIS GOOD AS A 12 YEAR OLD.
Cue the swift and less than gracious butt devastation at the hands of Amalgamation (Lv. 11).
I couldn't bring myself to continue.

"touch n go ride the flow" |
I think I embarrassed another person.
When I was thirteen, I went to Dave and Buster's. There was a guy playing on the DDR X2 cabinet and he was playing Trip Machine Climax. After the guy was done, I asked him if I could play with him. They guy said no because he was too "hardcore". When he got off to take a break, I got on and selected Pluto. Nevertheless the guy looked at me like I was crazy. I played the chart and got an FC. I looked at the guy and he looked at me with wide eyes and he turned red. It was hilarious!

I've had moments like that. It feels very nice to be an early teen and absolutely destroy people who are older than you on difficult songs they think you can't play, I must admit.

The worst kind of players are the players who are full of themselves though. Always be humble.
I once ran into this kid who was probably 13 or so and he always went "omg, I could have AAA'd that" to every song I choose. It's like, ok, cool, you're good in a game that's dying, can you not kill the experience any further?
Not saying you guys have a large ego or have stroked it in front of people, but never try to push it to a level that you act like a jerk.

I'm always humble about it, actually. At least, I try to be, even though it probably makes me sound like an egotistical jackass.

The first time I played Pump It Up, I fell off the pad. A lot. I was with a friend and he couldn't stop laughing at me. >_<

You should have made him prove those statements. But seriously, at least there are teenagers who like it, so that as long as the series doesn't die out itself, its fanbase won't.

That's an incredibly narcissistic reason to say no. I kinda hope the guy's dog took a shit in his Cheerios the next morning. I'd never say no to someone if they asked if they could play with me (in fact I never have) and I usually go out of my way to ask people who seem interested if they want to or just let them go ahead of me.
As far as recent embarrassing moments for me, one of my legs completely froze up while attempting W from Sharpnelstreamz on tj28's ITG machine. That's about it :p

I attempted a custom doubles Freestyle chart (read: retarded hands edit) I made in all of 15 minutes on ITG for Bad Routine. I had a friend record it (because I knew I was going to do awful). I fell off the pad once, then during an incredibly convoluted part I just collapsed on the pads and gave up.
Later that day, last song I attemped Tsuhsuixamush for the first time on pad. 7 years later I still remember all the negative BPMs somehow and pass, but right when I finish, I get the most HEINOUS cramp ever in my right leg, to the point where I could barely walk. I had my friend give me a piggyback ride out of the arcade, on the overpass and into Stop and Shop where I proceeded to walk normally.

"Prepare for disappointment" |
When I was 6, I was scared to death of the Love This Feelin' background. So when I saw the skull's eyes (which were covered by the Stage Number bar on the top of the screen), I ran screaming in terror. I turned away every time I finished the song.
When I saw a skull on TV, I ran upstairs from the basement with the same reaction, thus making me cartilogenophobic as a kid.
Ironically, I wanted to be a forensic artist when I was 10.

Crap you just reminded me. I was 5 when I first got DDRMAX for PS2, and I could never bring myself to play Let The Beat Hit Em! (Classic R&B Style) because the background scared me. That lasted for a while too, because I got spooked by 22Dunk on first play as well as a few others like Afronova and such, but I got over that after first play, whereas that fear lasted for years.
I also remember being scared to pick almost any song on DDR Extreme USA because I feared the background would be scary. However I also partially attest that to all the songs sucking.
