Understepped and Overstepped songs

I don't think, for example, a 200 constant BPM for Fascination MAXX or a 160 BPM for MaxX Unlimited would fit because they are just super fast paced songs.

DDR has a weird obsession with doubling the bpm of songs for no reason other than to make them harder, they only seem really fast paced because we're so used to the idea of them going at a dynamic scroll rate.

Yet at the same time, I'd find it awkward having a fast paced song being ridiculously easy... that being said, an understepped song, Rock This Town (from Ultramix 4). IT'S ALL JUST QUARTER NOTES!!!

It's both! Understepped in some places, overstepped in others... that was somewhat typical of the CLUB versions. (I'm looking at you Macho Gang with all your jumps!!)

Are there really any fast paced songs that are understepped in DDR though?
Serious question, I dont play fast songs too often so I dont know if there are any that are easy yet fast.

Okay, that statement was somewhat of an exaggeration, but I can make an example... Across the nightmare. It is hard as it is already, yes, but it could be even harder, just by hearing the guitars for example.

Totally forgot about Across the Nightmare, that thing is just begging to be a boss song, but they went the safe route and just kept it mostly small spurts of 8th clusters.

Can someone explain to me why Xepher has been raised as understepped? Seems like a shitton of unnecessary business in that chart for me.

As for Cutie Chaser, it's easy. It's meant to be a more relaxed, fun chart. It's full of easy to learn spins and turns.

It follows the song well, doesnt seem over or understepped

Dragon Blade for sure.

The Least 100sec. could've been boss-level, too; or it can easily be edited to be.

You know another song that's SERIOUSLY understepped? THE SHINING POLARIS.

In all honesty, I would have loved to see something like this be the challenge chart, it's easily a 10/15.

Yes and No. It IS technically understepped, but it's also from the older DDR mixes which had more emphasis on fun charts rather than being dedicated to the music (to a point).

Then no one would play it. There's more to a chart than what rhythm it follows. That chart is littered with broken flow.

Surprised no one mentioned Kiss Me (KCP Remix) or I'M ALIVE (CUT'N'MOVE) yet.

Also, Dancing All Alone is understepped. Luckily, the chart from the 5th Mix Data Bank makes up for it.
