Yup.
Honestly, it's a pretty good license set so far.

After watching videos and reading everything, the only thing that this honestly has over iDANCE is the Top 40 licenses. That was the #1 issue with iDANCE - Lack of well known licenses.

None of these songs were in Universe 3, in fact I don't think they were even out at the time. So these are new licenses (so far) exclusively for Classroom Edition.
More songs for them to ruin. Nice.

OK, so I got some information from my P.E teacher today
1. The planned release date is Fall 2012
2. They will be selling pads in sets of 48 (I think) for $10-15,000
3. Each student will get a card that will register once a mat is activated if the card is swiped on the mat
4. Students will then be separated onto teams
5. DDR Classroom Edition will use a PC as the engine because of the cards and stuff, a PC is necessary. IIRC, a disc is used and you can register pads/users on that. Also, you can plug in the PC into a projector for a big screen.

I lol'd when I heard the Universe 3 announcer. You'd think it would be logical to remove the announcer on the title screen for obvious purposes.
I'm guessing they used the Universe 3 engine because it's the closest and newest engine they can port with the least amount of effort.
20k for the entire system, a public performance license, and 48 pads seems both a really good deal, and a great way for Konami to recoup DDR development costs, promote the brand, and justify more CS and AC releases.
Very true. This could help bring more publicity towards the series considering Konami is terrible at doing that normally.

you obviously haven't seen the prices for idance, pro mp or blufit.

Maybe it's being worked on by the team who coded Universe 3, meaning they already know the engine inside-out, and can adapt it for this (very different) gameplay and scoring system?

So guys, remember this game?
...
...
Right, anyway, official Konami trailer has been posted. What got me as odd was this remix of Tonight Tonight.

Full press release here:

I'm not sure what the final song list will be like, but I suspect there will be a ton of licenses.

I'm going to assume the song list will consist of about 85% licenses and about 10% Konami Originals (the most popular and well-known ones) while 5% of the song list being some other songs in DDR that are either new or from different CS versions/consoles.

Ah gee, I guess the teachers would not like a student who brackets and doesn't flail their arms everywhere.

Will there be any Konami Originals besides Dynamite Rave? Let alone Bemani Crossovers? I really don't think those kind of songs would appeal to today's kids. This idea would of been perfectly fine 10 years ago, if not awesome (they would probably put in Dancemania licenses rather than master tracks).
But sad to say, DDR is an aging relic nowadays. It's too bad that only hardcore players still care about DDR. Casual players probably don't even know what Stepmania is and how it differs from DDR AC & CS versions.

Because I was bored on Youtube, I found footage of this game from not too long ago (about 2 weeks ago)
Same deal, game still looks like crap, but oddly enough, this is getting more coverage than DDR II last year from the media...Goo Jaw Konami?

Considering their purpose and the usage environment they'll be in, those pads don't look half bad.
Is that song overheard during the report one of the three we know about or something else?

Can't wait for "NO NO, YOU DON'T BRACKET! YOU LEAVE ONE FOOT IN THE CENTER AND TRY TO HIT THE ARROWS WITH ONE FOOT AND THEN PUT IT BACK TO THE CENTER."
