Either way I need to be able to see what judge level people are using.

I AM TRUSTING YOU TO PLAY HONESTLY AND NOT GO OVER THE ALLOWED ATTEMPTS OF PLAY. ANY SUSPICION OF CHEATING WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION. BE FOREWARNED, IF YOU DO CHEAT YOUR WAY TO THE TOP YOU WILL ENCOUNTER EXTREMELY DIFFICULT SIMFILES AND EVENTUALLY LOSE. CHEATING WILL NOT HELP YOU WIN IF YOU ARE NOT A SKILLED PLAYER.
Why does it matter what version of StepMania we're using, then.

Should someone make a modified 3.9 default theme that displays the judge/life/etc. during and after gameplay?

I would really like to enter this contest, but I can't even run Stepmania 3.9, because blah blah "OSX Lion doesn't support this anymore".

It's for ease of score calculation. I don't want to have to figure out what peoples judgements are because they use different words to describe them. Also, sometimes themes use percentages instead of letter grades and I don't want to have to figure out what letter grade it equals. I need to have the least amount of potential delays. Daily rounds need to be consistent.

So we're using StepMania 5 with the default theme?
What scoring system do we use then.

It's default scoring system. Everything that effects the score, stepchart, and theme should be set to its default function.

Life Difficulty 2 (1.0 in the options) is the default, so it's safe to assume that's what's being used.

Do you foresee anymore future rule changes before/during the Tournament?

Let's lay these issues to rest. Tere is the problem of not being able to tell what judgement level people are playing on. Although I have confidence in the warning text, some users have a problem with it. Thre is also the problem of scoring methods. This absolutely CAN NOT vary. There is another issue where some people can't run SM 3.9 or SM5. I would say just use SM 3.9 I can't just leave people out or give them any unfair advatages or disadvantages due to score system variations. So far I haven't heard anyone say that they can't run SM5 and very seriously doubt that lagging would be SO bad that you can't play the game. So THIS WHAT EVERYONE NEED TO USE IN ORDER FOR YOUR SCORE TO BE VALID.
Stepmania 5
Extreme soring sstem
Default noteskin
Default note color
Default Theme
Default judgment level (5)
This is the FINAL decision. If you don't us these you will be failing to meet simfile requirements and you will be disqaulified.

In that case, I'm out because my computer cannot run SM5

Guess I'm out, too; I don't have 24/7 access to my SM5, so yeah.

looks like I'm gonna have to update SSC to SM5. I tried a dry run with Android's sample he sent, well I have the Failure option turned off and still failed. so looks like an update is in order.

Look I'm sorry but I can't have score method variations. Unless someone comes up with a way to convert MAX2 scoring into EXT than it'l have to be one SM version for everyone. I will try to work out this problem before next years tournament.

I know you want to make people play fair but if someone wants to cheat, he will anyway.I'm sure you can modify the timing windows like on 3.9 and showing a difficulty of 8 while being easier than any pump it up machine.
So if the only thing that makes you go SM5 is "showing the difficulty", better stick on SM3.95 i guess (like you said first).
Not easy to run an SM tournament :/

That isn't really the issue. It is one, but it's not the main issue. The main issue is that the scoring system need to be the same for every player in order for it to be fair. I'm not sure if the advantages or disadvantages of score system variations would be major or minor, but they are there and can't be ignored. We have four days until the tournmanet begins. I'm giving everyone 3 days to tell me what version can and can't be run on thier computer. Which ever version has the least amount of "can't run" will be chosen as the standard. I hate to leave people out, but that's the way it has to be for now. The less people being left out the better. So disregard my last post. Just in case you missed it.
3 days to tell whether or not you can run 3.9 or SM5. The version with the least "can't" will be the default. Unless I can figure out how to convert MAX2 scoring into EXT this will have to be the method for this issue. I apologize to anyone who will be left out.
Already I know Blinded_No_More can't run SM5 and Silver Spirit can't. So that's two "can't for SM5.
SM 3.9 - 0
SM 5 - 2
