"On ZiV I'm like Princess Diana"
Weird, they updated the DDR page on the official Konami website, yet there's no songlist that was promised. Mainly they replaced the MySpace link to a YouTube link and updated the screenshot gallery. There's also a "Video" section, that has a good number of videos...Too bad they're all for PES 2008. Interestingly enough, if you actually watch through one of the PES2008 videos, it will load the apparently correct video page, which only has the DG trailer and that old X/HP2/Uni 3 thing from last year.

That won't happen since it's been confirmed to have at least 60 songs.

edit:
Piekun, the PR has been added to Konami.com now.

Thanks!

They're still not being specific as to what HP and HP2 refers to!
I got a hunch as to what this really is....

Looks like we got all the Licenses right simply by investigation! Smile
30 licenses + 28 KO's = 58
HP + HP2 makes 60... Hmmmm....

I got a feeling you'll be able to load (some/all) the KO's from HP1 and HP2 and maybe those might even get (new) charts for the Balance Board mode! That's my hunch. If it's not on the disk itself, they may get it to load off of a save file or something. If they do the latter, that'll be VERY interesting to see how it turns out.

Still no word on Edit Mode/Doubles... *sigh* That can't bring me down, though.

HOTTEST PARTY / ???
HOTTEST PARTY 2 / ???

Impressions: Yup, casual audience for sure. All 30 licenses are present. HP3 has four unique new KOs "Be With You (Still Miss You) / nc feat. Eddie Kay", "PARADISE / LEA DROP feat. McCall Clark", "Now's the Time / Brenda", and "Lesson3 / Dr. DDR". They also score a few of the FFP covers that X2 doesn't get. Perhaps the oddest thing about this list is the "HOTTEST PARTY" and "HOTTEST PARTY 2" entries. Overall, it has the largest songlist of any Wii DDR game to date, which gives it a thumbs up in my book.

You got that right! It's impressive all the work they've put into this. I can't wait to get my hands on it next week. I'll be playing like crazy whenever I get a chance. I'll try to do vids as soon as I can.

Hmm, the differences between X2 and this one may be big enough to get both games? I don't know, but I'm glad I have the option.

Just because the songlist has more licenses doesn't make it "casual". More open to people though, yes. I can guarantee you now that in that list most of those charts will give anyone a run for their money. Especially with directional hand markers on. I'm looking forward to that new challenge on it's own.

Doubles I don't see happening anyhow, especially with hands in play. Not enough people play doubles at home to make the addition worthwhile anyway. Edit mode, I can only hope for. However, I don't see that happening either since if they did do that, it would either have hand placement options removed so that they could be used in an arcade, or it would let you chart hand markers but at the expense of arcade compatibility. Consider also that none of the songs in this game will be in the arcades for a while, it'll basically be an ignored feature by the majority of people. As I've said though, I'd like to see it happen but I'm not holding my breath.

I could see the HP1/HP2 selections being nonstop megamixes of select songs from both games. If so, that's cool.

As for that list, hurry up 10/28!

Konami are pushing Hottest Party as the "main" DDR series now, so obviously, it's completely stacked from top to bottom.

This looks incredible. I don't know how anyone can consider it a game aimed solely at "casual players", when it has more new in-house Bemani songs than DDRX and SuperNOVA 2 put together? It's obviously aimed at satisfying everyone.

Not solely, but it definitely has a broader appeal to the non-DDR fan. The large license list containing old and new hits (notice how pretty much only the old got cut from X2), and a selection of KOs by artists familiar to anyone who got HP2. The three exclusive KOs are all 125BPM and under, and are likely to be pop, again to appeal to 'anyone.'

X2's exclusives on the other hand are harder dance and trance. Which crowd is La Senoirta Virtual appealing to? And the GROOVE RADAR Specials? X2 is absolutely a DDR game for DDR fans, while HP3 is that game that anyone, fans and newcomers, can find appealing. This isn't a bad thing, it's just the skew of the song lists. And it makes sense for the more 'main' of the games to be the one that appeals to everyone.

"On ZiV I'm like Princess Diana"
Looks like Amazon.com has updated their HP3 page with all the new info, including the songlist. "roppongiEVOLVED" is split into the three versions, so maybe we'll actually be able to select them on the song wheel now. They seem to have accidentally included Baile Le Samba into the list (oops!)

Unfortunately, no HOTTEST PARTY or HOTTEST PARTY 2 mentions on there, which means those areas are still ???. A remix would be cool, but I'm hoping that they are reviving some of the songs. I would love to be able to play SUPER SAMURAI with speed mods.

La Senorita Virtual isn't appealing to the hardcore as much as it's appealing to a NICHE (unless they both mean the same thing these days). Big difference. DDRX2 on a whole is appealing to a niche audience. Only arcade goers (which I am one of) are going to "get it" with DDRX2 when selections like the Groove Radar Specials are in it.

And I'm willing to put money on the HP1 and HP2 selections on HP3 being nonstop megamixes in the same sense as X-Mix 1-5 were on DDRX. There's already 60+ songs in the game, I don't see any more revivals happening. And if for some reason selecting them does open up songs, it'll probably be 1 or 2 songs from each game at best simply because they'd HAVE to get new charts.

Either way, we'll find out in a few days. Unfortunately I'll be VERY busy with things the day HP3 comes out so I wouldn't expect too much on my page on day one unless I get it very early that day.
