I agree with that it all comes down to personal preference. I personally like very little mainstream music, save for a few artists. Yeah, electronic/pop is the way to go for me. I love it. However, I know a lot of people don't.
I say, "OK, you listen to your iPod and I'll listen to mine." The strange thing is, a lot more people are interested in the electronic style than most think. I was surprised at how many of my friends get songs like "Tomoe" from SMiLE.dk's album or "starmine" stuck in their heads and I hear them humming it occasionally.

And this is the garbage that keeps good dance music from becoming mainstream. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhGrs_wAFL4&fmt=22

Fixed thread title.
What was it before? Sorry if it was already answered, but I'm on my iPod now and it's not the easiest thing in the world to scroll through 4 pages of replies on this site.Yeah, I don't really mind the new hits so much. I actually like the fact that they're catchy. It's probably just my generation lol.
I want to add a "Good job" to Rihanna for her new song Live Your Life. It promotes a good message, and that's probably the most postive promoting hit out there by a modern pop artist.

But I <3 3OH!3

I just saw them last November, and they were ridiculously awesome. If you didn't like that song in particular, then I'd suggest Starstrukk or Electroshock, probably the latter more so since it's not really all about sex and whatnot, or at least not so straightforward... whatever.

I don't think the instrumentals are too bad, I'm just not a fan of the lyrics/vocals. To each his own though.

Yes, a lot of the latest hits are about sex, especially ones by Flo Rida.

The last mainstream song to get stuck in my head was "Diva", and I forget who that's by.

...OR it could be that new Beyonce song, but i don't know if it's called "Diva" (the lyrics include something like "A Diva is a female version of a hustla' of a-of a hustla, etc.)

Have you heard of an artist known as Plies? My friend actually brought it to my attention that every song by him is about sex. Or at least there is no song I've heard by him that is less than 60% sex.Post #78 · Posted at 2009-04-05 10:56:57am 16.2 years ago

I'd like to throw out another rap song that actually has a good message...it came out a year or so ago, but "The Evening News" by Chamillionaire had a surprisingly good message. At least, I found it surprising coming from him after only hearing "Ridin' Dirty" 24/7 for a few months...
