Ewwww, ever spill a few tokens and have kids grabbing at em?
Moral: Fix the damn whole in your pocket
I only like having onlookers if the onlooker is my level or better. I don't like being judged, but you know it's good to get the rare pointer. But if you don't like crowds, don't go to movie theatres. Once in a while when I go with friends I'll show off freestyling on V.
:3
No matter how many times I frequent a theatre, the mall cop always hates me. I've had a few fights over there too. It's a common locale for ITG players like Hamm and Ike, but nobody sees DDR action, so I'm one of the few. Just the same, sometimes when I JUST start playing my first song of that day, someone assumes I've been on for hours and tells me to hurry up and get off.
Got a great story for you :>3
This girl called me a nerd for playing DDR so much (I was freestyling Freeway Shuffle cause I like the song and I needed to get my energy back), so when I finished I told her "Show me you can be physically better at DDR." She takes the challenge and steps up, and she changes the difficulty so it's on Heavy. The problem is, she didn't know about the foot system. She was just relying on the groove radar. So she picks 321 Stars, which I guess was beyond her level, because she got the first three and just sort of stopped. I was chuckling all day. Later she tried to apologize but ended up spilling Dr. Pepper on my left leg -_-

When a lady put her child on the 2nd player, while I was concentrating to clear a boss song.

...the second is why i wear my dog tags when i go to an arcade...
"...you are an unemployed house wife with 5 kids, i maintain a-10s and f-16s, plus i actually benefit the country" *flash dog tags* its really the only time i advertise in public that i'm in the military, because its fun to throw that at someone who thinks a 23 year old playing a video game is ditching school, has no life, and is unemployed.
Hell, I need to start doing this, though I should probably leave out what exactly I do since my job is significantly less exciting-sounding than maintaining aircraft."...you are an unemployed house wife with 5 kids, i maintain a-10s and f-16s, plus i actually benefit the country" *flash dog tags* its really the only time i advertise in public that i'm in the military, because its fun to throw that at someone who thinks a 23 year old playing a video game is ditching school, has no life, and is unemployed.

if you dont mention your job, their first thought is that you are in the army, so just roll with that :p i used to get asked all the time when i was in my goth phase and thought my dog tags were the coolest accessory ever why i joined the army.

Mmm, I might not pass for being old enough to be in the military. What makes for a legitimate dog tag?

I think what pissed me off the most is the care that these systems went through. I was personally involved in ATTEMPTING to keep my system that I probably used more often than most down there in top shape. You come by on Friday, however, and it'd all be fucked up by the scum of the Earth coming by on the nights fucking up the machine. They wouldn't be able to do a simple 1-footer so they would stomp the shit out of the panel until it absolutely worked no more and no one did a thing about it.
That sound a lot like what happened to SN2 at my place. What bugs me is they (The people who work there) fix it in a week at the most. It's been 2 months and the damn this is still broke. I would play custom ITG2 songs, but some dick hacked his edits on the machine and you can't play custom songs, well at less I can't get them to work. the guy that hacked the machine is the same guy how plays 8+ minute songs on the machine. can you be any more greedy?

The Oakridge Theatre's 1st player side doesn't work. Ooooooooh! This ought to be its own thread, but arcades themselves piss me off too.
The guys don't even have the nerve to put a sign that says "Out of Order". I mean, they used to, but they gave up cause people took the scotch tape off. SO DUCKTAPE IT ON AGH!!! -_-
Also the ITG is messed up because someone hacked in the patches. It works, but after you play your custom songs you have to unplug and plug it back in.

Spilling coke on the pads to "Clean" it.
screw that. if the pads are like walking on ice, i'm spilling a coke. i play doubles, so to hell with anyone that expects me to slip and fall because THEY dont like it. 9/10 people who complain about it cant do max300 heavy double no bar, so they wouldnt understand. i mean, most arcades i go to dont have super slick pads, but on the occasion that someone actually cleaned them(the tops of the panels i mean, i make sure to frequent arcades that maintain their pads) i always dirty them. also, my first time playing NGO in the arcade(single heavy) i tripped and fell WHILE BAR RAPING because the pads were so slick. i walked to the snack bar, bought a coke, spilled it, soaked it up with my towel, played again, and got an A.
What bugs me is the spilling part. I can't stand slippery pads myself (too much energy trying to bring my feet back before they slam into the machine), but I can't imagine intentionally spilling coke on the pads. Maybe scrub the pads with a soda-wet cloth or "coat" it with some junk that'll make it sticky (like when you peel off a sticker and it has all that residue that you really gotta scrub to get it off completely), but the thought of pads soaking up some random crap confuses me.

I don't really understand how spilling coke on the panels help give you more traction. Doesn't it make the panels slippery? I mean, come on. Whenever I get liquid on my panels, I tend to slip and it lowers my score. Should'nt there be a sign that says slippery when wet. (Oh wait a minute, DDR Megamix bootleg)
Okay, now we are getting off topic. When other music plays when you play. That's another thing that pisses me off.

The sugars in coke make it sticky when mostly dried.

This from a person that can't even pass 10s with a bar. Here's a hint: Come back when you're actually above mediocre at the game.Edit: lol, looks like Al or several other people didn't like that remark (30 point rating drop). Face reality, if you've been playing over a year, and you can't do 10s, you haven't been trying very hard.

I can wear boots and I'll still slip. Most kids and scrubs will leave a layer of dirt on the pad which can turn the pads into ice. I'll admit, I do it too, but at least I'll have the decency to bring a paper towel with water or something...or windex if handy.Post #78 · Posted at 2009-01-15 02:12:30pm 16.4 years ago

you have no idea what you're talking about. i can be in chucks, my running shoes, or my work boots ON THE SAME PAD and i will slip. a slick pad is slick, plain and simple. whats your counter argument that i can slip on the DDR machine because of slick pads, then walk right over to the ITG machine and not slip? obviously if thats the case its NOT my shoes.
as for the question about spilling coke, i'm not talking about just pouring it recklessly all over the place. pour a bit on a panel, wipe it dry, and the panel is sticky just like your hands would be if you spilled coke on them and wiped them off without using soap.
as for dog tags, not like it matters(you wont be able to get them) but its-
last name
first name middle initial
SSN branch of service
blood type
religious preference

I hear that. Almost 90% of the problems in this thread are caused by ignorant people.
What gets to me is when arcades don't maintian their machines properly, and especially when they set them up side by side. Sure it may look cool but it's not exactly the best set up for the players who actually want to hear the song they are playing.
