You want to know what I love about this lawsuit... DJMAX was totally original, and not once did I feel it felt like beatmania, or did it resemble it (I mean I can see how the setup looks like it, but gameplay is completely different).

It's like everytime another company tries their hand at making a successful music game that everyone might or will love, Konami has to step in and ruin it for everyone. Roxor and ITG are gone because of them, Activision and Harmonix almost lost to them, Andamiro was in danger long ago, and now Pentavision and the DJ MAX Series are in danger. And it doesn't even look anything like IIDX at all! Konami seriously has got to stop hogging the music game spotlight and let other companies try their hands at music games. Konami doesn't have to be THE ONLY ONE with successful music game franchises. They need to seriously leave other companies alone and give them a chance. At this point, in my opinion. Konami's reputation is dwindling. If they keep this up, Konami will be the only ones with music games, and thats not playing fair. Whats next? Stepmania? Seriously Konami, cut the bulls#$% and stop doing this. It's getting to the point where no company will be allowed to make a music game without konami interfering.

Andamiro....
Roxor.....
Amuseworld...
Harmonix/MTV/Viacom...
Pentavision....
Monopoly much? You can PATENT the way a game is run. Thats like trying to patent the first person shooter. If they had issues with the games, they should have taken care of it when the problems 1st started aka, when the games came out.

Activision is probably paying them off, just like they are for Guitar Hero 3 and World Tour... they decided that simply bribing Konami into silence was more economical than fighting off a lawsuit.

I really hope this wont go through, I just saw the thread and died a little bit inside.
I've always liked Konami, but ofcourse I've enjoyed the other music games too, so when ITG got crossed off the list+this crap with DJM I really don't see the point of following Konamis' road anymore, and seeing myself as a "victim" living in Europe having to wait a to get what the rest of the world have gotten and cleared a year ago for almost nothing but a copypasta doesnt really increase Konamis' reputation from my point of view.
I want to be able to select from different games in the same genre. I want to play both ITG and DDR. It's like Coke and Pepsi or whatever.
Pentavision>Konamis' reason.
Time to let the music game flower bloom from the branch of the Konami tree. :(

This only further increases my hatred for the music game mogul that is Konami. They are unwilling to risk competition with other, similar music game makers because they are afraid of the economic prospects of competition. In fact, competition might actually be good for the industry; it might bring more attention to the genre and attract new customers. They are screwing themselves if they let this go through.

What I wonder is if there is a completely different department within Konami that decides to sue. I don't want to believe that the Bemani dev teams are the ones bringing the lawsuits up. Also, keep in mind with music based games, there's often hardware involved and it's much easier to patent hardware than software, hence Konami can go bananas with suing with all their Bemani titles.

Something must of happened that we don't know about. Pentavision released it's Muse-On controller that by the way looks exactly like a IIDX controller with an extra key. Then Konami introduces hold notes in IIDX17. I'd love to think that they two have reached an agreement and are exchanging ideas. Hope their not taking jabs at each other.
