I think your banners and bgs have been fine so far. I'm not too picky about that though.

As for getting rid of your originals category, why are you getting rid of it?

There old, I never upload or update them, & they are taking space.

I've not look at the Banners and BGs as a big deal with the files. I have a belief that it's about how good the simfile is, not of nice the GFX are... but some banner is better then no banner at all.

Some of your graphics leave a little to be desired, though. For example:

I can barely read the subtitle! Here's another example of poor choice in color:


I know mine aren't much better, but I prefer to start from scratch so the font doesn't seem out of place.

You might consider getting Paint.NET (www.getpaint.net). It's free and has a lot of those great image-editing features that I don't know how to use but are probably in Photoshop.

Anyway, it's designed to be user-friendly like Paint, but you can work with layers and transparency too. Its action history lets you select exactly what to undo, and you can have multiple tabs open if you want to work with several images/drafts at once. There's also a quality selector when you save to a filetype.

I actually downloaded my Adobe Photoshop a year ago in download.com and its for free

in my opinion, graphics are really important when it comes to simfiles because other than the music, this is the first thing that players will notice (especially in choosing a song in the song wheel). And we have a saying "First impressions last". Good graphics + superb steps will definitely win the hearts of players.

I could try using it, but there would still be the issue of conjuring an image that's detailed enough. My mind thinks of puny amounts as being plenty, so I'd never be able to create intricate works of art.
